Since the day I drove my XT5 off the lot, the brakes have squealed. Cadillac said it was their special coating to make them last longer so they would never fix it. While my Cadillac was under warranty, I made a bumper sticker that said “I know my breaks squeak and so does Cadillac†- they didn’t love it, but they wouldn’t fix my breaks either. Going in my 5th summer and even after new brakes, it still squeaks. I hate my XT5.
I have taken this car back to Dealer for this same problem, 6 times in the last 12 months. They have resurfaced rotors twice, changed brake pads, lubed the pads, did some type of a bulletin and still, they are unable to get rid of the loud squeaky noise the brakes make. It is frustrating when you have this issue for an SUV that is supposed to be luxury with a price tag of almost $50,000. I am also concerned since the mechanics are saying that the brakes make noise when they are glazed and glazed brakes will not have the same braking power when you really need it.
