My 2005 Chrysler 300 (Touring) ran like a champ without any problems of note for 270,000 miles. A few days ago, on an interstate, it suffered a catastrophic engine failure. It was nasty. The engine oil light came on, the vehicle lost power and suddenly there was the sound of nuts and bolts in a blender. It died right there. Thankfully, I was in the right lane and able to roll off the road safely. Had it happened in another lane or with thick traffic, it could have been an absolute disaster. The engine was completely locked up but here's the thing: There was no hint of trouble, no clue whatsoever. In fact, there was no smoke, no loss of oil, no whining of metal on metal, no engine temp rise, no nothing--just a sudden and complete engine failure. I'll never know what happened until the engine is removed and replaced.
I was driving in the fast lane on the interstate and all of a sudden the car began to shut down. It took all my might to move the car from the fast lane to the median, which was on the opposite side of the slow lane. I could have easily been killed due to the speeds of the cars around me.This was the most frightening situation I've ever been in!! I am not due for an oil change until next month. The car never sounded funny or anything.
I have a 2005 Chrysler 300, bought my car brand new as well and recently my engine failed. I had regular oil changes, in matter of fact, I just had an oil change a week before my car started having problems. This has been a horrible situation for me, I am depressed, and I feel like I bought a lemon. Has anyone contacted the Better Business Bureau, and I agree we should get with Chrysler on our situation.
I have a defected car. Afraid to drive it now, not sure what its going to do next, worse the car is already paid for seems that the life expectancy of this Chrysler 300 is 5 years. I cant afford to buy another car I am single and laid off just disgusted, I wish I had done more research on this car manufacture and NOW IM STUCK WITH A LEMON !!!

I bought this car brand new, just paid it off in this pass year total was 28,000 now the engine blew and chrysler doesn't want to help me.The engine light never came on, there was no warning there was a problem with the engine.I feel chrysler should replace the engine because I looked up the life of the engine, and it said between 30,000 and 70,000 no one told me that when i bought it. This people are nuts who can afford another engine after paying all that money to begin with.The car is only 5 years old.if any one has this problem lets all get together and get something done about this.
I keep gonig back and forward to Bergeron Chrysler on Veterans and its like they do not want to fix the car they are keep trying to get me to buy a new car.
