Vehicle was parked at home and noticed a wet spot on ground. When she pulled hood noticed that there was anti freeze spread all over engine and wires. This was third water pump replaced. The dealership was aware of problem.
Front end struts wre replaced after reporting clunking noise in front end when car was placed in reverse. One year later, while enroute from Pennsylvania to Washington on vacation, the steering broke when backing out of a parking space in an underground parking lot in South bend, in. Rack and pinion was repaired by dealership in South bend. Started to smell gas fumes in vehicle while driving to Washington. Tried to get repairs in South Dakota but was unable to find a dealership who would repair it. Located dealership in pasco, washinton torepair the fuel line which was not connected properly after rack repair, as I was told by dealer. Battery exploded while in parking lot at local mall. Air conditioner started emitting musty smell. Had air conditioner charged twice and it still doesnt seem to hold a charge. Car would not start on 12/3/1999. Thinking it was the battery, tried to jump the car but was told by mechanic that it sounded like it might be the timing belt. Now I find the water pump leaked which may have caused a blown gasket. Mechanic reports little compression in three cylinders and $1500 estimate for repair.
Water pump failed causing vehicle to overheat which resulted in the failure of two head gaskets, timing belt, antifreeze over fill bottle to melt and the vehicle to stop.
Due to defective water pump vehicle seized, losing all power steering control which almost caused an accident. Dealer said it was a common problem with the water pump.
The consumer has been experiencing problems with water pump. The water pump is failing, causing the engine to malfunction. The manufacturer has yet to be contacted.
