: the contact stated there was fuel on the engine and the vehicle was taken to the dealership. The dealership determined the fuel rail cracked. There is a NHTSA recall, # 98V184000, regarding the fuel injection system. The vehicle had the same problem as indicated in the recall; however, it is not included in the recall due to the VIN. I am an insurance adjuster. When the failure was found (leaking fluid down the inner apron and rail ) I checked for a used assy. Since I am out of warranty. Of 2 units I had shipped out I found the same stress fracture on both in the same location. The crack is on the left side of the tank at the mounting point projection. Tank is held in place by a tab on the bottom and 1 bolt into the top/side bracket. I think this could be a oem problem and could lead to steering failure or possible fire. I wanted everyone to be aware and if possible have the problem checked by the proper authorities. Thank you.
