This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
I`ve had my transmission fixed 3 times and its going out again. The brakes have been replaced 3 times also the stabilizer bar, tie rods, and wheel bearings have been replaced on both sides. The car leaks oil and anti-freeze. The sun roof doesn`T close half the time, and the tail lights don`T work on the right side. Also on the highway one time all the water ran out of my car while I was driving.
PE99044, intermittently while making a sharp turn, steering system loses all power which may result in a crash. Common problem. Car originally taken in for transmission, transmission was rebuilt. The day car was picked up, noticed problem with steering.
The transmission disengages by itself when slowing down to exit off of a ramp after achieving highway speeds. The driver is "standing" at a light and the car will disengage, "jerk" back into gear, lunging the car into the intersection if the driver is not steady on the brake. Also, the Lhs will, after coming off highway speeds for a period of time, or, if driving a slow speed for a period of time, say through a residential neighborhood, disengage, then lunge when it re-engages not allowing the transmission to switch to a higher gear, remaining in first gear until the car is turned off and re-started. I originally thought that the transmission was working in conjunction with the ABS braking system. However, it is apparent that an unweary driver will not know how to respond to the transmission disengagement, possibly trying to accelerate past a car when the transmission is already disengaged and in neutral, causing a severe lung once the transmission re-engages. I have contacted the Chrysler-mopar web-site to see if this transmission problem is re-occuring in other owner's cars; the response to the number of complaints on this transmission problem is evident throughout the last four years of this Chrysler model. Thank you in advance for your time and attention to this matter.
