This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Windshield wipers intermittently shut off or won't turn on. The dealer replaced battery at first and then wiper motor as possible cause but the problem still exists.
Intermittently vehicle shuts down and dies. Vehicle will restart immediately. Dealer has not been able to duplicate the problem. Windshield wipers malfunctions.
Van shuts off while driving or will not start......once it shuts down U have to wait 15-30 min before it can be started, wipers will shut down or will keep going after car has been shut off.....will runn at whatever speed they want.
Intermittently, while driving windshield wipers will come on without application. Windshield wipers will stay on anywhere from 10 seconds to a minute. Manufacturer/dealer have been contacted about the problem. Manufacturer and dealer stated that this is a known problem. Problem has not been corrected.
Windshield wipers stop working while in use, causes poor vissibility which could lead to a vehicle collision. Dealer/manufacturer notified, and informed consumer that vehicle was not part of recall due to VIN.
The windshield wipers go on without being manually engaged. Sometimes the wipers will stay on for just a couple of swipes, but other times will just stay on. In order to get the wipers to stop, one must turn the wipers on and then off. The wipers always work though when they are turned on and turn off when turned off. There doesn't seem to be a specific time when the wipers go on by themselves. It is very random as far as I can tell.
Windshield wipers will stop functioning, or will start by themselves with switch turned off. Multi-purpose switch has been replaced twice, but defect has reoccurred. Dealer could not determine the cause.
Windshield wipers operate erratically. Whle driving they will just activate on their own, swipe across the window about two times and shut back off. Dealer has been contacted.
Wipers stop during torrential downpours almost causing crashes or remain on after ignition is turned off. 2 neighbors with same vans have same problems! interior lights flicker when doors are open.
Wipers turn on unexpectedly, under various circumstances, without the switch being touched, runs for only a few swipes, then it shuts off again. This happens in wet or dry conditions, with the vehicle sitting still or in motion, occasionally occurs upon starting. Initially this would occur infrequently, maybe once a week, now almost daily. Usually it is only one swipe, but more recently this has gotten worse, with as many as 4 swipes without warning or demand. We suspect the operating switch is the culprit. This vehicle was bought "used" from the listed dealer and there is no readily apparent warranty or related factory recall.
