The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Caravan. While driving approximately 65 mph, the contact heard a loud grinding and squealing noise when the brake pedal was depressed. She noticed a decrease in the brake line pressure and an increase in stopping distance. The emergency brake assisted during this failure. There were no warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who stated that the failure was related to the brakes and rotors. There were no parts available to repair the vehicle. The technician recommended that the vehicle be serviced by an authorized dealer. The vehicle was taken to the dealer three times for the same failure, but the failure persists. The failure mileage was 15,685 and current mileage was 24,000.

Almost total loss of braking ability. Brakes also wear out too fast. The minivan has only 35000 miles and just had the second set of pads at 31000 miles. Yesterday while driving in the mountains the brakes over heated and almost caught fire (a lot of smoke). I was staying off the brakes as much as possible and in 3rd gear not od. I have never had this problem with other vehicles. I was able to use a long turnout to slow down in and stop after smelling the brakes overheating.
