led racetrack sections intermittent failure

After my lease was up I purchased the car. Before the lease was up, I had replaced the instrument cluster as it had failed and the blue tooth controller as well. Both at a cost to me. Estimated $600.00. I then purchased the car after the 3 year lease was up.

Shortly after purchasing it, and the warranty expiring, the LED racetrack started to have dark spots in the trunk section (The largest and most expensive part). The area effected was about 3 inches. Well, within a few months, that area spread to about 18 inches of dead LED's. It does not effect the vehicle for inspections but it is a huge obvious defect that looks like crap when driving down the road.

Searches online reveal it to be a common problem with LEDs. The cause is believed to be a disconnect somewhere on the board caused by the trunk being closed and knocking a section loose. I believe this to be true because I have noticed, that sometimes the lights work. If you hit the trunk, the light sometimes comes back on but will not stay on.

This is clearly a design flaw and should be covered under Dodge. The replacement for the Trunk section of the racetrack LED is about $400.00, plus labor. Money I obviously don't have, and would be wary to waste knowing that it could get the same defect.
