Vibrations during braking at high and low speeds. Pulsing while depressing brake pedal. Today the right front brake overheated while driving at highway speed on level road. The disc brakes were locked up on the rotor and would not release. Appears to be a failure within the caliper"?? I have heard several other reports of similar incidents of this type. Is this a design flaw or problem that can result in an accident" the truck may have caught fire due to the overheating of the brakes, however it did not during this incident.

When applying brakes pedal went to the floor, lights flashed on dashboard, resulting in extended stopping distance. After vehicle was inspected by dealer it was discovered that bolt holding calipers popped out. Vehicle has been repaired by dealer.

I would like to question of the quality of this braking system and have it checked out. I have had numerous visits to the dealer and have replaced the front rotors 4 times. I have had the rear drums and shoes replaced. I have complained about the front calipers and finally got the right front replaced in October 2000. My main consern would be that the calipers are hanging up and the rotors are heating causing warpage, or that the materials used in these components are inferior and should be improved. If the calipers are heating up the system, perhaps this could lead to fluid heat and failure thereof.
