CarComplaints.com Notes: The first year of the new Dodge Dart had a rough start, with owners reporting a disproportionate number of engine and transmission problems.

For transmission, the main complaints are transmission failure & rough shifting. So far, average mileage for transmission failure is 25,000 miles. Not good.

For engine problems, it usually starts with the engine light coming on for any number of reasons: bad sensors, ignition coil replacement, bad wiring, faulty gas cap ... dealers are replacing various components with varying degrees of success, or telling owners they can't duplicate the issue.

So now we have had the engine replaced and most of the cooling, and of course now it is time for the electrical to randomly blink out as we are accelerating. After this began, we got the car right back to the dealership and they said that there was a faulty wiring harness. We didn't bother with getting a rental car this time because of after the last fiasco and just waited for the repairs. Another $100 out of our pocket.

when starting to slide on ice engine stall all elec. lost

When starting to slide on ice a notification flashes where your mileage should be not sure if its check engine soon light or what but it flashes quick then all engine seems to stall for a few seconds while all electronic dash goes out. no speedometer no stereo no touch screen no lights inside. outside of car. but while sliding and letting up on the brakes everything turns back on. i work at a Chrysler dealer ship so my service dept is checking it out for me. i just would prefer not to become a upstate new York road pancake.
