CarComplaints.com Notes: The first year of the new Dodge Dart had a rough start, with owners reporting a disproportionate number of engine and transmission problems.

For transmission, the main complaints are transmission failure & rough shifting. So far, average mileage for transmission failure is 25,000 miles. Not good.

For engine problems, it usually starts with the engine light coming on for any number of reasons: bad sensors, ignition coil replacement, bad wiring, faulty gas cap ... dealers are replacing various components with varying degrees of success, or telling owners they can't duplicate the issue.

The car was in a bad accident 20 March 2016. The passenger seatbelt did not tighten and no airbags deployed possibly contributing to severe neck injury. This vehicle was traveling about 35 mph when a vehicle next to it traveling the same speed decided to make a U-turn in front of it on a city one-way road. Please investigate this asap before the car is dispositioned by the insurance.

I was driving my car in the left lane, I switched lanes due to traffic and I saw amother car stopped to make a left turn from the right lane. I hit the brakes hard and the car kept going. I hit the car in front of me causing severe damage to the front of my car. The airbags did not deploy as well. When I hot the brakes theanti lock brakes pulsed once but the car kept going forward. The car didn't skid or slide. It was like nothing happened at all. My kids were in the car and they were scared and shook up. I have been working on cars most of my life and to feel the car do this was very strange to me.

Left car at dealership for recalls (South point Dodge dealership in tulsa, ok to had car fixed for transmission recall. Advised service manager that I had looked up vehicle on the internet and saw it had 3 major recalls one for the transmission module and the other concerning the airbags which I expressed great concern with and I asked him to please go ahead and take care of it now since he already has the vecicle there. He told me he would fix all the recalls. We assumed they were done. It wasn't until my sons accident that we learned they didnt fix the airbags. On 12.28.2015 my son was in a accident because of ice on highway and the airbags did not deploy. This is unacceptable. He could of been badly injured or even killed. Luckily he only has a concussion. I am attaching a picture for you to look at. Also I was told by the state trooper that there is a video of the accident because it happened right in front of their toll booth with cameras. The Oklahoma turnpike authorities should have the video. Here is a picture that the auto body took showing that the airbags didn't not deploy. You can also see that the rebar of the car's frame is pushed all the way up to the motor. Please look into this matter so no one else gets hurt or killed as it could of been my son that day.

While driving and attempting to come to a stop by pressing the break, the break out of nowhere became very difficult to press down and the car was difficult to stop. I was coming off the highway approaching a light. After I was able to press it down it let off a hissing noise. I took it in and was told it was the break booster that needed to be replaced. No one was able to inform me what caused it. I have never had any trouble prior to, no accidents and I am consistent with service. It is clear this is a manufacturing problem and a recall is in order. I do understand this is not the first or only complaint for the very same issue. This could result in death. Also their seems to be a problem with my airbag system and tire light as they have been triggered on their own and will not go off.

I bought my car on May 6, 2013 and I have been taking my car to whitten brothers in ashland Virginia for all the service and repair work. On June 13, 2013 I had a recall done and all of the repairs started.the air bag wiring and harnesses replaced in June 2013. The turbo has been replace 4 times as of August 27, 2015. The waste gate actuator has been replace 3 times. 08/12/14 the vacuum sensor signal replaced power brake check valve and sadder and repaired 2 wires going to the vacuum sensor. Transmission control module has been replaced twice on 09/11/15. On 06/26/14 the cruise control switch was replaced but still does not work properly because the car is always having a problem which will stop it from working. On 06/26/14 the control panel was replaced. On 02/18/15 PCM radio wiring, right front door and subwoofer speakers replaced. On 08/27/15 front struts and back shock absorbers replaced. On 09/01/15 replaced battery and transmission light came on. I have recently had all the updates done on my car while its been in the shop and now I am tired of being taken advantage of by Chrysler. I should not have to lose thousands of dollars to trade or sell my car back to a dealer to get out of this nightmare. I want my car recalled back for a full refund because of the reoccurring problems I keep having. I have sent a lemon law letter to Chrysler on September 14, 2014 and put them on notice about all the problems with this car and demanded a buy back which in turn they gave me an extended warranty which has covered all the repair expenses. I also just settled a law suit with Chrysler through the law offices of krohn and moss in Chicago the lawyer did not pursue my case in court due to being out of state. So therefore, I only won $5,000 to cover the attorney fee of $3,500 leaving me $1,500. My total purchase price was $21,671 and that is what I am fighting for!

The airbag did not deploy and I suffered a neck and back injury. Now I see there is a recall (13V555000) which is a cause for faulty air bags, which my car was not put on the list as.

The service airbag light in my vehicle goes on and off several times throughout each month. I have brought it into the dealer & they tried telling me it was because I probably have my purse on the passenger seat. I do not keep my purse on the passenger seat. Service airbag light comes on no matter if there is a passenger or not. Dealer could not find a fix for problem. Who knows if my airbags will even work if I happen to get into a crash.
