CarComplaints.com Notes: The first year of the new Dodge Dart had a rough start, with owners reporting a disproportionate number of engine and transmission problems.

For transmission, the main complaints are transmission failure & rough shifting. So far, average mileage for transmission failure is 25,000 miles. Not good.

For engine problems, it usually starts with the engine light coming on for any number of reasons: bad sensors, ignition coil replacement, bad wiring, faulty gas cap ... dealers are replacing various components with varying degrees of success, or telling owners they can't duplicate the issue.

OK where to start? I purchased this car DEC 2013 and having a new car should mean no issues right? Wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Traction light kept getting struck on for like couple months here and there. Then the big issue, air bags! Air bag sensor kept coming on! Went to shop 3 times in like 9mths ! The last time they ordered a part and we never got a call back! It was at dealership! We had to call and then was told it was there, pushed "to the back of the table"! (3mths we waited) We threatened to call corp if problem not fixed! This time the head tech put it in and all OK!

So sad to have so many problems with a new vehicle! I will never own another Dodge! I had a Durango that had problems too! I thought a new Dodge would be awesome! Boy I was wrong!
