The driver seat moves forward when braking. It is dangerous in the event of hard braking and the seat moves forward. This can cause the driver to apply more force on the brake than intended. The 'movement' is due to worn parts in the electric lift and/or electric forward/backward positioning mechanism(s). The movement is not due to the electric motors doing the movement.

A few months back, the front driver's seat began to slide forward when braking and then back once starting up again -- whether city street or freeway driving. It feels like it moves an inch or so. It is a 2000. It began before 78,000 miles. I purchased the car from parents in 2010 and it did not have any issues until suddenly it moved when braking. Seat should be stable. I see this is a common issue with this model.

Drivers power seat 'slack". when you apply brakes to stop, the seat slides forward then returns back after the stopping motion ends. This affects the drivers seat position and braking action. In an accident this will put the driver closer to the steering wheel and air bag. Suspension- driving on the freeway, if you encounter bumpy or rough roads on a curve the car will sometimes slip sideways a bit, it's enough to startle you for a moment.

First off, the power driver seat moves with the motion of the car about a 1/2" forward and back. It has been told to me that a spacer is needed to be installed in the mechanism. Second and more important is the engine cuts off when the car is decelerating; all power to the car is impeded. The car will not restart immediately.

While driving the vehicle on the interstate, I applied the brakes and the front seat shifted forward. A driver seat should be stationary and not rock forward when you driving. Definitely a safety hazard.

Just recently I noticed the following problem with my driver's seat. After I select the correct seat position by pressing the button on the bottom left of the seat to move forward or backwards; the seat slides back and forth when I have to brake or stop. This problem is potentially dangerous in the event I have to stop/brake suddenly. From what I have read on the internet, this problem is common with the Dodge Durango and is caused by loose track rails attached underneath the driver's seat. Is this a defect in the Dodge Durango? if so, there should be a recall to fix this problem.

2000 Dodge Durango drivers side electric seat rocking chair effect. There is acme tread long screw (worm gear) between the top and bottom track. The front of the acme screw rests in a plastic bearing. There is a gear aluminum case from which a small transmission cable attaches to the front of the worm gear; both ends of the cable have a square shape.the cable is not attached to either end. It just slides in or out either side. Inside between the tracks there is an aluminum case that is held in place with 2 torque screws to the track. The problem: Inside of the aluminum piece there is supposed to be a filler possibly made of rubber, which is affected by the grease and disintegrates over time. You will not find pieces of broken plastic or rubber, the rubber has become some sort of asphalt with the grease. Because of the lack of the filler between the nut and the interior of the aluminum casing, there is gap which allows the seat to move back and forward like a rocking chair.

The contact owns a 2000 Dodge Durango. The contact was driving approximately between 35-40 mph, and when the brake pedal was applied the front drivers seat slightly began to travel backwards and failed to remain secure in the adjusted position; however, the contact was able to continue driving. On a separate occasion the front drivers side seat rocked in a back and forth motion. The failure occurred continuously. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and was not repaired. Currently, the vehicle was not being driven. The failure mileage was unknown.

I own a 2000 Durango slt with the "rocking seat" problem. Driver's side seat slides in the rail approximately 1 inch when accelerating or stopping, unless the seat is positioned at the extreme forward or rearward positions. The problem started at approximately 38,000 miles and getting worst as time goes on. On inspection, I found the aluminum sliders attached to the gear drives for both left and right sides to be worn out, causing the front to rear slippage. Research shows this to be a very common issue, as there are multiple complaints file with your organization. I believe that this could be a very serious safety issue that needs to be addressed. Hopefully no one has been injured by this defect that Dodge knows well about. I believe a recall or repair kit is in order here. Luckily I do not drive this vehicle very much.

2000 Dodge Durango driver's (power) seat moves about an inch forward when braking and backwards when accelerating. I feel very unsafe with this movement, as it is really unnerving while trying to brake in a safe manner. According to a few websites, this is a constant problem with 98 - 03 Dodge's, due to a cracked seat track. This seems to be something that really needs to be recalled and taken care of before a deadly accident occurs.

2002 Dodge Durango power seat track failed. ***** the seat would rock back and forth about an inch when braking or accelerating. The seat track has been replaced twice so far. The consumer replaced the tracks himself. While replacing the most recent track the consumer noticed that the seat frame was fractured in two area. I currently drive a 2000 Dodge Durango slt. The front seat bracket is fragile and can easily break making it rock back and forth. This has already happened to my drivers chair and the part to fix it is not available. The result is having to buy a new seat which is not possible at this point. Pending an accident I could see this causing problems such as whiplash since the seat is not securely mounted. I have done research online and wonder why this is not a recalled item because there seems to be many complaints on the same issue.

I am writing this email to express my deep concern for the safety of children riding in the rear 3rd bench seat of Dodge Durango's. my husband and I have a 2000 Dodge Durango. We recently have been putting my 4 year old son's booster seat in the bench seat since the birth of our 3rd child. We figured we could still use the Durango instead of buying a mini van. It became evident to us on a recent car trip that the rear bench seat does not lock into position. My husband and I can easily push on the seatback from the rear and it will fold to the floor. We immediately envisioned the safety hazards this could impose on anyone riding in the rear bench seat, especially for children. A rear end collision could send anyone flying forward, even if they had their seatbelts in place. I turned to my owners manual for answers and it gives a warning to "make sure the cushion is properly engaged under the seatback to properly lock the seatback in the riding position". in our experience this positioning did not lock the seat. I contacted two dealerships expressing my concern and got no real answers. Champion Dodge in barrington said it was unsafe for children to be placed in the bench seat. Viking Dodge of crystal lake simply said that if it was in the owners manual it must be true. I then contacted the customer service center for DaimlerChrysler corporation and they said it was unsafe for children to ride in the bench seat and that there is no locking mechanism. Given this information I feel that anyone who rides in that bench seat is at risk for serious injury. It is a smaller seat and I could see a lot of people wanting to place children back there. A lot of parents could be using that seat for extra children they are transporting in car pools. I feel this safety concern needs to publicized to prevent serious injury. I feel DaimlerChrysler corporation needs to perform a recall on all Durango's affected and install a locking mechanism to the bench seat.
