I have paid over and over again to have the ac fixed. After a few thousand bucks it maybe cold, but does blow and wimps out quickly. I take it in again they tell me its something different - a few more thousand and still does blow or work. One guy even said that's how they all are. My 20 year old Fords kicks ac, why can't the van? Especially after I've sunk so much cash into it (always repaired at dealerships). And guess what it's at the dealership again for ac work!

No AC during summer in Texas - unacceptable. After much research, I discovered the problem was to replace the resistor behind the glove box.

Another annoying intermittent electrical problem. I kind of NEED a defroster in Canada in December! How can anyone find the problem when the blower comes on when I take it in?

Aside from having the pull the fuse out and replace it to make the door locks work whenever they take a notion to stop working, and replacing the brake pads at 21,000 miles and the A/C compressor last year at 28,000 miles, it has been an ok vehicle. I have experienced some problems with the engine service light coming on and the mechanic said it set a transmission code. He reset it and it hasn't come back YET! I expect to have to fix things due to normal wear and tear, but the nit noy problem with the doorlocks just showed that Dodge didn't care about customer satisfaction. I read the blogs back when I first experienced this and once I knew how to correct it, it wasn't such a hassle. My wife even got to where she could fix it. But I understand it was a software glitch (or not) from what I read on the web and they refused to put out a fix for it.

Sad--I never have bought a Japanese car and have always been faithful to the American car companies but it is getting harder and harder to sell to my wife when we experience problems like this on a vehicle with low mileage.

Autozone had a replacement part. It didn't look anything like the original, but works just fine. Good Luck!! This model really has a lot of problems. Too Bad.

Checked the relays and fuses. Checked the fan motor and it is getting power. The control panel is okay. The only thing I can think of is maybe a resistor. Not sure where they are. Looking for a manual on line and saw a complaint about the electric lock. Mine only works for about two weeks. When it quits I undo the battery cable and put it back on and it works again. Not sure why.

Grand Caravan SXT 41000

  • Automatic transmission
  • 40,000 miles

The AC/Heat direction flow (I call them flappers) are not working. I can feel the air/heat in the dash, but the air doesn't blow as hard on the driver's side as it is on the passenger side.

The switch was replaced w/o resolution. The dealer says they have to call the tech center.

This is going to be a dangerous situation once I need defrost this winter!

Anyone want to buy an '05 Grand Caravan SXT????

Front air is not blowing. It is cold at the vent but not blowing. Back works fine. Took to local mechanic and he says the flow door flap is broken or won't open/close. He says he'll have to replace the whole part which he calls the "central distributing housing". The part alone costs $185, according to him. Wondering if he's giving me the run around?

The AC blower went on the car and it had only 35K miles. Should this be included under Warranty (over 3 years old)?

On a hot summer day, I got into the car and tried to turn the AC on and the rear was working fine, but the front wouldn't blow at all. Van was purchased passed off as a demo, though I've found out since then it couldn't have been with $25,000 miles on it. Needless to say there was no warranty, and dealership wanted far to much $$$ just to look at it. After driving for a year with no front AC, my husband finally investigated and found the problem with the switch. We replaced it and it worked for a couple months before going out again. Bought new switch at dealership, which was designed a bit differently than the previous one. We suspect they realized it was a design flaw and changed it. It has worked fine since then. I suppose two $30 switches isn't too terribly bad to have to pay for a working AC, but still a pain to have to change out twice on what I would consider a reasonably new car.
