October 8,2020 I was driving straight down hill on a city street in puyallup, wa when the car completely shut down without warning. I had no steering, brakes, or anyway to control the vehicle. I managed to coast into a nearby lowes hardware parking lot and ran into a barrier in order to stop. I was lucky there were no people or other cars in my path of travel when I entered as I was unable to stop. I called my insurer, geici, and arranged for the vehicle to be towed. Towing was performed by engels towing, puyallup, wa (253) 845-0034. Checking online I discovered that this is a known problem with the fuel pump and no recall has been issued. I believe that this is a serious safety issue. I, my family, or others could have been seriouly injured or killed.
Sliding passenger doors on both sides of van refuse to open or unlock. Doors cannot be opened manually, with key fob or with the button on the interior of the car. This prevents passengers in rear (usually children) from being able to exit the vehicle, which could be particularly dangerous in the event of a crash.
The contact owns a 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact coasted to the shoulder. The electronic stability control and the security indicator warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for a diagnostic. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000. The VIN was not available.
2011 Dodge Grand Caravan had a faulty tipm and is a known problem costing well over $1500 at Dodge to get a new tipm. This effects the stability control module, the transmission electronic shifting, the brake lights and the air conditioning just to name a few issues. We have reached out to Dodge and they will not cover it.
Van would turn over but not start. This continues to happen over and over. The dealership told me I needed a new tipm and fuel pump. But found out this is a very common problem, and they issued a recall for other vehicles with this same part. It is the fuel relay switch inside of tipm that goes bad. It seems the fuel pump is fine. I can buy a repair part very cheap. This is plastered all over online and I think this is a known problem and should be a recall!

The contact owns a 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan. While driving unknown speeds, the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) indicator spontaneously illuminated. Additionally, the contact heard an abnormal noise. The contact was unable to determine if there was a failure with the tires since the TPMS indicator was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to ferrario Chrysler towanda (168 golden mile rd, towanda, pa 18848, (570) 485-0072) where it was diagnosed that the codes needed to be reset. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified and opened case number: 33719903. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not covered under warranty. The failure mileage was 50,000.
Tipm is bad on vehicle, confirmed by rick keffer Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram dealership in yulee, fl two years ago. Vehicle stalled on highway and then later would not start. Purchased a bypass cable in order to keep using the vehicle and while driving we get indicator lights flashing on dashboard such as brake on when it's not, seatbelt light on when seatbelts are buckled, lights flashing or staying on when turned off. This is a major safety issue !!! I have three kids, ages 13, 12, and 10 and this is our primary family vehicle. The tipm has already been recalled for other make and models with Chrysler Dodge Jeep for 2011-2014 but not the Grand Caravan.
February 2,2018 Dodge Grand Caravan turned off and parked in drive way my daughter comes in and said the van sounds like it's still running went out and heard what she heard also check on this three times before going to bed( this noise came from the gas tank). The next day 02/03/2018 noise was not there anymore. I had schedule recall work to be perform on 02/05/2018 but re-schedule with service advisor for 02/06/2018 car would not start key stuck in ignition switch. Tow truck picked up 02/07/2018 took to dealership explain what happen I was told by the service advisor to expect a call on Friday 02/09/2018 call came dead battery(new battery 01/24/2018) and the tipm kit was needed. This vehicle 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan tipm should be listed as a recall. I started last year having starting concerns with this van not wanting to start.
I have complaint regarding tipm but now my battery is drained and car won't turn on. When is Dodge going to step in and help thousands of people with same problem before someone dies bc van turn off while driving and family sues" why it has to take a tragic accident before Dodge steps in" I'm sure am not the only one with children driving and still paying for this garbage van. I will never buy Dodge again. Getting a lawyer.
I have posted complaints for 2 years with same problem regarding the tipm however I was reading the reason of not being recalled is because all the tipm systems will malfunction regardless how many times it's change. If this is so why they don't recall all this vehicles.? I've been stuck numerous of times, replaced (2) $200 batteries bc the tipm eats the battery. I have children and it is not fair to be stuck in the middle of no where when car deciders not to turn on.. make it a recall for even exchanged for another vehicle where wie will be safe.
Fuel pump relay which I think its the fuse box. My vechile wont start and when it does, the windshield wipers turn on and its gave us a malfunction sensor
I have reported this problem a year ago after seeing the lawsuit on Jeep Cherokee and Dodge durangos. Having to replace the tpim module. I've seen several complaint about having to change the battery then the altenator then the tpim. I did all that and my vehicles electrical system still is giving me problems. The doors will not side open the air blows heat automatically when not even on and now won't even start. Problem after problem and still no recall. There has been hundreds of complaints about faulty tipm's and even a lawsuit. The dealership say's they don't know what the problem is but each person I've seen complain shares the same problem. First told it's the battery then the altenator then the tpim. Why has this not been recalled. Dodge knows this is a problem or they wouldn't have settled a lawsuit about the Cherokee and the durango. This is not right at all and we need help fixing this issue asap.
Van will shut off while driving at slow speed, normally when slowing down to turn, which is very dangerous as you have to coast across the road with no power. No check engine lights or error codes of any kind. This has happened several times almost causing accidents. The engine does run abnormally and performs well at highway speeds. When the problem happens it is just as if you turned off the ignition, but the radio and dash lights still work. The van will restart normally and drive. Have not been able to reproduce the issue for a mechanic to see the issue it seems to be random.
Tipm needing to be replaced due to all warning light and wipers cutting on, doors not functioning, all electrical malfunctioning. Motor cutting off low speed. 20 codes listed. Dodge is willing to replace for around $1000 my cost.
My van does not always start.--when parked in driveway or parking lot; no difference if flat or hill or anything. Some days it starts with out any problems, other days it will not start ever--it might start at 8am, not at 11am, but work for a week...no pattern. I have had it to the show 3 times in the last 3 months--each time it stayed for more than 3 days. They thought battery; bought a new battery. Next day, no start. Only warning light was key battery low--so they changed that (even though I had already done that). Next day, no start and same low key bat warning. Then it would be fine for a few days... and again random start or no starts. The last time the red "electronic throttle control" light was on--it shuts off after a few seconds. Sometimes, when it doesn't want to, but then does start, it acts like it wants to shut down while I am driving. It will sputter and seem like it wants to shut off. The folks at the garage are completely perplexed by this and have offered to come to my house/work the next time to see it bc it doesn't always do it for them--we think because if I jump it, it does a temporary fix. But, they also warn based on over charging/shocking a good battery. Anything we google says to be careful driving and get to shop... well shop can't figure it out. I have heard about a few recalls for ignition and keys, and I have a call in to the dealership about this. I am worried that I will be stuck out with my kids; end up crashing with my kids; or with the bad weather coming, we will have either of them happen and be stuck in the snow.
Well from the time I purchased the car I told the dealer about the ignition. The car speeding off while I'm driving in a regular street or highway. The warning lights doesn't warn. Enough is enough. Riding in the car in street yesterday once again the steering wheel locked in me in traffic and it shut down. No warning. So dangerous. There is no way there should be so many complaints about the same issues and they not have a recall and repairs.my alternator actually fried and we could have been killed along with my children!!!! I'm scared. Im paying $500 dollars a month for a vehicle that is sitting and I can't drive. Please give hello me to get justice.
Bought vehicle 10 mths ago. Have had trouble with it starting. Anti theft system came on, battery drained and key locked in ignition. Could not get it out without charging battery. Vehicle is now not wanting to start every time. Took to dealer, found out has faulty tipm. Parts on back order and will end up costing almost $1200 to repair. Still owe $14000 for vehicle and have to get repairs. This vehicle was purchased for my 89 year old mother so that she would be able to put her electric scooter in the back of it for travel. Company this was purchased at, I am sure knew of the issue, just as I am sure they knew of recall on a window switch that wasn't repaired. If this part is not repairs, steering can go out while driving, amongst other fatal things, such as brakes going out or stalling middle of driving. Dealer trying to blame other company for installing faulty tipm, when it is the company's faulty part.
My vehicle had a defective tipm module in it. I first had to replace the battery then the altenator then the key fob and finally the tipm module. Looking back that all of the first repairs turned out not to be the problem. We had always noticed that at times the windows would automatically roll down and that the electric doors would suddenly open up. We never quite knew what it was until now. We replaced the tipm and it worked fine. After spending 800 dollars that I didn't real need to the tipm was another 1000 dollars. I've seen the lawsuit that is on going related to the very same problem I had in the Grand Cherokee and the Dodge durangos. My vehicle is list in the addendum to the lawsuit. I'm very frustrated I had to spend first 800 dollars that didn't fix the problem then the1000 dollars knowing they haven't had a recall yet after so many complaints regarding the same issues.
