My 2007 Dodge Nitro has been giving me problems since June. I have replaced my temperature sensor, thermostat, flushed out, replaced radiator and radiator fan. I'm still having problems with the temperature going up and truck not wanting to start. Where do I go from here? They need to address this problem, like now.

2007 Dodge Nitro was stalling intermittently. I thought it was misfire, then the battery light came. Lights were not dim. Made it to work and could smell something electrically wrong. It was dark, thought I'd look at in the morning since I had to go to work 3rd shift. Within an hour my car was burned to the ground. It totaled my Nitro and the truck next to me. No collision insurance. TIPM faulty - had never heard of it till now. This is not my fault. I loved that Nitro - this devastated me. That could have burned my house and family if I had it home being worked on.

Moved from CA to TN 2,000 miles away from HOME. Knowing NOBODY here in TN, NOBODY!! Just me and my wife for my Job. Besides my wife's depression and broken heart leaving all our FAMILY and the only place we have ever known, things in TN were going good. We only have 1 vehicle 2007 Dodge Nitro R/T 4.0. In April 2017, started hearing my alarm on my 2007 Dodge Nitro RT start honking on it's own. Deactivating and Activating my alarm. Then while driving (as it was still in running condition) the traction control and electronic throttle control would light up in the instrument panel and you could feel our truck go into this, what felt like a race mode hyper-speed. We would have to pull over and turn off the ignition. Then turn back on ignition codes would clear off panel and truck would drive normal. Until it would happen again. Every day about 3/4 times a day it would do the same thing. It became normal. Then at the end of May around the 25th 2017 i was driving on the highway and the engine cut out on me. Had to pull to the side of the highway. i tried to restart it but no luck. So glad we have AAA, cause remember we know NOBODY in TN. They towed it home paying an additional $40.00 for exceeding our tow mileage. Now, here it goes.. first we checked P codes. Nothing was registering. Checked all fuses. Changed the starter relay switch.replaced the starter. during this time the light would flash on and off, wipers wiping, alarm going haywire like it was possessed. After all the you tube videos, googling trying to figure out it's the software in a FAULTY TIPM!!! that only a DODGE dealer can fix. is that not the SH*T!!!! To date our Nitro sits in our driveway paying $420.00 a month for a vehicle we can not drive and there is no fricken recall to have it fixed. We contacted our finance Company for help cause we can not afford to pay $1,200-$1,500 out of pocket to fix this Dealer problem. This is really F*CKED up. We asked the legal department of our finance Co. High Performance to contact the dealer we bought the vehicle from in CA Sunrise Ford Fontana cause they should have not sold this vehicle with out fixing that problem in 2007. We bought our vehicle in December 2014.Being well aware of the TIPM problem. Now our finance company won't return our calls. they will soon cause they need our payment. so until then we will find out what's going to happen.

I have a 2007 Dodge Nitro, I named her Mrs. POS because well it's a pos. When I first got the vehicle we noticed the battery died kinda often, about every day or two. As I started driving more that stopped happening. On Halloween night I almost hit a deer and when I went to honk my horn at the animal to my surprise the horn did not go off. I thought to check the fuse box for bad fuses, someone had pulled the fuses out. I replaced the fuses and at 2am my roommate came in my room and smacked me to wake me up because my horn was blaring in the middle of the night. When I got out there the windshield wipers were going, there was windshield washer fluid going everywhere and the horn was going off like someone was laying on it. I repulled the fuses and called it a night, looked up people who had similar issues but I hadn't had the issue again until recently. I've had to have my car jump started every day, finally got tired of calling friends to come and save me so I got one of those jump boxes.

Yesterday morning, the car killed the jump box and wouldn't start. The run/start relay, k4 on Nitros, was clicking and buzzing and was killing the battery to the point that someone hooked jumper cables to my car and was unable to jump me. We decided to out smart the car, pulled the relay and charged the battery up. Someone plugged the relay in and I immediately started the car. We took it straight to the dodge dealership closest to us and dropped it off to be fixed. That car has been the biggest pain in my butt..... But it looks just as good being a lawn ornament.

had several issues over the last three years. I've had this nitro I thought it to b dependable until now. about a year and a half ago the lights n alarm just went bezerk and started sounding off as I was walking up to it. then I raised the hood and started to pulling fuses out then it quit the annoying issue and put the fuses back and presto problem was resolved until here lately ...its stalled in mid takeoff and as I was driving down the road ..and it has also started this kind of hiccup as I'm driving which I'm assuming is from power failure of the tipm?really like my automobile and would like to keep it but if I or my family cant depend on what else to do?????but get ready to take losses and upgrade to

We own a 2007 Dodge Nitro R/T, which was purchased used with 25K miles and now had 138K miles. We have had some electrical gremlins with this SUV, including the driver and passenger window motors failing, and the random actuation of all the dash lights, cooling fan, and other systems upon the press of the key fob (which subsequently can be reset with manually unlocking a door using the key).

Those gripes we can live with, and the Nitro has been pretty reliable for towing and other hauling. Our biggest complaint is the "random shut-off" problem, which has happened three times over the life of the car, and most recently on a major California freeway, which could have led to major accident, if I did not have the presence of mind to immediate using whatever rolling inertia I had left to pull over to the shoulder.

Prior to this latest shut-off incident, I had the TIPM reprogrammed by the dealer, but subsequently suffered a shut-down while I was driving in a parking lot. I then paid around $800 to completely replace the TIPM with a new unit, which was also refreshed with the latest software. This replacement seemed to improve driveability, but with 1K miles, some low speed surging had returned, eventually leading to the total shut-down on the freeway that I already discussed. I believe that Dodge owes all Nitro owners a permanent fix, or a credit-back toward the purchase of a new vehicle. At this point, I have parked the Nitro and refuse to drive it any further!

LAST WEEK, I CAME OUT FROM THE GYM AT APPROXIMATELY 6:30 AM, AND HIT 'UNLOCK' ON MY KEY TO MY 2007 DODGE NITRO. TO MY SURPRISE, THE HEADLIGHTS COME ON, THE HORN GOES OFF NON-STOP, AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS BEGIN OPERATING AT FULL BLAST.

AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES OF TRYING TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY WITHOUT TOOLS, AND INEVITABLY BECOMING FRUSTRATED, I SLAM THE CAR HOOD DOWN, WHICH STOPS THE HORN. HOWEVER, THEN THE WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID BEGINS TO DISCHARGE NON-STOP UNTIL MY FLUID IS COMPLETELY GONE. THROUGHOUT ALL OF THIS, THE NITRO WILL NOT START, YET I HAVE POWER IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT THE ENTIRE TIME.

AFTER A FEW MINUTES, THE NITRO DOES START, AND I DECIDE TO DRIVE IT THE 1.5 MILES TO MY HOME TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS GOING ON. AFTER ABOUT AN HOUR, I TEST DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO DETERMINE IF THE PROBLEM IS CONTINUING, WITH NO ISSUES. THE NEXT DAY, I AGAIN DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO INSPECT FOR ISSUES, BUT DECIDE TO DRIVE IT A BIT FURTHER TO MY OFFICE, AS I HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS OCCUR WHILE DRIVING (I DECIDED TO TAKE BACK COUNTRY ROADS SO AS TO AVOID TRAFFIC/MINIMIZE ANY SAFETY RISKS). AS I AM DRIVING DOWN THE FINAL ROAD TO MY OFFICE, THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN WHILE I AM IN MOTION, I LOSE POWER STEERING, AND MY HORN IMMEDIATELY BEGINS GOING OFF NON-STOP AGAIN.

AFTER GETTING IT TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE, THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TELLS ME THAT I HAVE 20 MALFUNCTION INDICATORS BASED ON THEIR RUNNING DIAGNOSTICS, BUT THEY BELIEVE IT IS THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM) THAT IS FAILING. AFTER DOIG SOME RESEARCH, I HAVE FOUND THAT THE TIPM HAS BEEN SUBJECT TO ONE RECALL ALREADY, AND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS SURROUNDING IDENTICAL MALFUNCTIONS AND THE TIPM IN OTHER VEHICLES.

AFTER CONTACTING CHRYSLER'S RECALL CENTER ABOUT THE ISSUES, THEY INFORM ME THAT THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO ABOUT THIS ISSUE, BECAUSE THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR DID NOT PERTAIN TO THE WINDSHIELD WIPER ISSUE THAT THE INITIAL RECALL WAS FOR. I QUESTIONED THE REP ABOUT THE FACT THAT THEY HAVE NOTICE THAT THE TIPM IS FAULTY, SUBJECT TO A RECALL ALREADY, AND THAT CHRYSLER HAS RECEIVED NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF PROBLEMS IDENTICAL TO MINE, SPECIFICALLY THAT THEIR VEHICLES RE SHUTTING DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING.ALL THE REP COULD DO WAS APOLOGIZE AND WISH ME LUCK. NOW, I AM A LAWYER, AND WHILE IT IS NOT WORTH MY TIME TO PURSUE LEGAL ACTION ON THIS MATTER, I WILL SAY THAT THEY ARE WALKING A DANGEROUS PATH WITH THIS, LIABILITY-WISE

I DECIDED TO PURCHASE A NEW TIPM AND HAVE AN AUTOMOTIVE ENGINE FRIEND HELP ME INSTALL THIS, SIMPLY BECAUSE I REUSE TO SUPPORT MY LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP. I DO ENJOY DRIVING MY NITRO, BUT I WILL BE TAKING MY BUSINESS ELSEWHERE IN THE FUTURE, AS I CANNOT SUPPORT COMPANY THAT KNOWINGLY ALLOWS THEIR CUSTOMERS TO DRIVE MACHINES PUTTING THEIR CUSTOMER'S LIVES IN JEOPARDY.

As I'm driving, car stops dead mid drive. No warning lights, nothing, complete power failure. So I'm stuck in the middle of the road,in the dark no Hazard Lights to turn on NOTHING. I can't get the Truck in gear(N) to attempt to get it off the road, and out of harms way. My confidence in this vehicle is completely shook, this is a MAJOR safety problem. your vehicle should not just stop without warning mid drive.

My 2007 Dodge Nitro is possessed! While driving the car the head lights began to flash, the horn started to go off, the windshield wipers started to go back and forth. It was quite alarming!!! The car turned off on it's own and when I turned it back on, it began acting possessed again. When I pulled over, turned the car off, pulled the key out of the ignition the car continued to run. I had to disconnect the battery in order for the car to shut off. After reconnecting the battery, the car would not start.

I had it towed to a mechanics ( THANK YOU AAA)... and after looking over the circuit box he found that a few of the fuses had been blown. Upon replacing them, the car continued to act crazy. After doing some research, we called the mechanic and asked him to check the TIPM (totally integrated power module). Low and behold, that is exactly the problem. It's faulty! After trying to order the part, we found out that the part is on national back order. FML!

The mechanic suggested that we get the Nitro to a Chrysler/Dodge dealership as he thinks this should be a recalled item if Chrysler/Dodge can't apparently keep up with the demand of the TIPM. We had it towed to our local Chrysler/Dodge Dealership/Service repair station today and we'll find out how long it's going to take to get the part. For now, we're SOL of a car.

So it started with my locks not working. The door would only lock if I stuck the key in the door or if I manually pushed/pulled the lock. Then about a week later my car would not start the first time when I would try to start the car. After that, it just got worst from there as in it would take longer/more attempts to start the car, until it just wouldn't start anymore. I had the car towed to a mechanic and he said it was my fuse box (TIPM). And that he had heard of a lawsuit against Chrysler because of faulty TIPM for a recall.
