I have had three Continental Contitrac as P245/75R16 tires fail due to tread separation in the last 4 years. This latest incident resulted in $2,000 worth of damage to my vehicle. I was mailed a recall notice sevral years ago for these tires but was told my tires were not part of the recall. The latest failure was on a tire with dot number AD70 449 447. I believe these tires are dangerous and that Continental tires should do something about it. If they choose not to I would suggest you all investigate this matter thoroughly, as I have never experienced any tread separation problems with any other tires on either this vehicle or any other vehicle in my life. Three separations on the exact same tires in a matter of a few years is inexcusable. Please reply as I would be interested to know what my options are.

Sears called bridgstone and they gave us credit as they were cracking and buldging and in bad shape. When we tried to seek compensation for the damage the tire caused the vehical bridgstone refused stating that the tire had to have been struck by something which is not relevant.

I have had at least 5 of these tires where the complete tread completely seperated from the tire. Have photos, actual tire leftovers, and receipts for proof of purchase and mechanics pro-rate adjustments. Out of all 6 tires originally purchased and the numerous pro-rated adjustments, only one remains in use and has reached a use of aprox. 50K miles. I realize now that I should have written about these problems as I encountered them, but it is not every day that one has loads of time to trouble shoot, find associations, and report findings. Additionally I did not realize until recent news reports that these can be life threatening issues.( dot number: Tire size:/85R16 )
