I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 with a severely cracked dash and recently my daughter cut her hand on it. How the ntsb can say that this widespread problem is not a vehicle occupant hazard is beyond me. Someone needs to force Chrysler Corp to fix / replace these dash skins before someone gets seriously hurt..
Dashboard cracked and continues to get worse; afraid it may fall in and ruin some of the wiring or trip the airbag to come out. The cracking started shortly after the warranty ran out and the dealer said they would not nor would Dodge cover the repair or replacement. Pretty said and I found a website with over 99 people complaining about the same issues. This should be fixed by Dodge.
I have a 1999 Dodge Ram magnum 1500 the dash it cracked in to different places lights on top don't work the push button is broken, and the cup holder tray is broken.
Purchased a 1999 Dodge 1500 with approximately 49K miles on it in 2004. Have had continual problem with dash breaking. It is now to the point that I feel the passenger side airbag will be impaired or even become lethal if it deployed. This appears to be a defect with numerous other owners having the same complaint. Dodge has refused to help correct problem. This makes it potentially hazardous for a front seat passenger. I am afraid with the condition of the dash at this point serious bodily injury may occur due to its condition. It almost appears that the default has caused the position of the dash to change subsequently changing the position of the airbag.
My husband and I both have Dodge Ram 1500 trucks and both dashboards are cracking my husbands is worse and has a hole that is large enough to put your head into. I was driving home from work a few nights ago when mine "exploded" or what sounded like someone fired a gun in the cab of my truck this is very dangerous and there are alot of complaints when is someone going to get off their rearends and do something about this or is it going to take someone wrecking and possibly dying to get Chrysler attention and let me just say they are dang lucky that I was stopped when it happened cause if I had wrecked my truck I would have thrown a massive lawsuits on these people and I don't care who it would of hurt this is insane. My best friends son cut his hand open on his dash because of it there is no need this needs to be fixed it is a hazard. Hello fix it!
I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 and the dash is busting into pieces. Dodge needs to fix this because it is a safety hazard. I have a 4yr old and a 2 yr old grandkids and don't want them or me to get hit with pieces of the dash.
1999 Ram 1500 dashboard cracked front to back near pass. Side airbag. Vehicle and interior kept in immaculate condition with only 66K miles and crack appeared without any occurrence. Cost of dash replacement prohibitive.
Dashboard hazard the part began failing while I was having some interior work done on my vehicle. It started with a small crack and now it's turned into 2 gaping holes. The dashboard on the 1999 Dodge Ram is a potential hazard. They are very brittle and subject to constant ongoing cracking. If ever there is a case of frontend collision or airbag deployment the driver and passengers could be blasted with numerous pieces of sharp hard plastic.
1999 Dodge Ram dashboard cracking all over most of cracks around passenger air bag. Incase of accident afraid strong impact will send lose sharp dash pieces onto person inside vehicle. Air bag deployment might cause dashboard objects to impale person inside. Unknown if water could cause a short in the wiring system to exposed dash causing vehicle to shut off while on highway at speeds of 60mph. Very concerned with this defect and afraid to put anyone in vehicle.
I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 that the upper dash has completely cracked away in large and small pieces. They are sharp & in the event of an accident could become missels or drop into the wiring behind the dash. This is happening from years 1998-2004. The Dodge dealer I went to admitted there was a mix-up in the plastic mixture but there was nothing they could or would do.

Defect in 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup dashboard dashboard has cracks and is crumbling apart...!!!! I used armor all to protect dashboard but it keeps falling apart and is risk for injury/death if air bag is deployed..I have read other complaints online cause of Dodge skimping on materials..I want Dodge to replace this at no cost to me..
The dashboard has racks in multiple places and the enter finally fell in onto the top of the radio. The truck has never been abused or in a wreck. I walked outside one morning and noticed the dashboard cracked. About a week later is when the center fell in.
1999 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab. Dashboard deteriorated and has finally resulted in large voids and sharp edges being exposed to the passenger compartment. The mounting location for the passenger side airbag has deteriorated to the point where the airbag can fall out.
