Not a huge deal really... apparently I have to gripe, rant, or rave in order to join this Club? I joined so I can keep up with my vehicle better. So ahhh the latch on the trunk isn't working!!!!

I recently bought a used 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 pick-up. 6 days after I bought it the hood unexpectedly flew up and smashed the windshield. We were on the freeway traveling approximately 65mph when it happened and our view was completely obstructed and we swerved. I was petrified as were my husband and children. In researching the issue, I found out that Dodge has already recalled 701,000 other trucks of the same model for this exact same thing from 1994-1999. Then again in 2008 an investigation was launched regarding another 698,294 Dodge Rams for the years of 2000 and 2001. I called Dodge to let them know what happened to us and they ignored me completely saying that the recall ended in 1999 and it is not their problem since I own a 2001. Obviously they did not fix the problem back then or we wouldn't be having the same problem now nor would the safety administration have opened an investigation. My kids and I could have died. I am outraged at Dodge and their lack of concern. With almost a total of 2 MILLION Dodge Ram 1500 trucks out there with this problem what is it going to take for Dodge to stop sweeping the problem under the rug and take appropriate action? Does someone need to die?

Ok I had just gotten my Dodge Ram 2001 and I didn't expect any problems but sure enough I was driving down a highway doing about 60 mph and my hood release failed and the hood flew up and hit my windshield... I had no visibility at all

Ram 1500 New England Lim V8

I was driving down a hill in the city going 30 mph when the hood flew open. I lost all visibility, luckily there were no vehicles coming the opposite direction or god forbid a child on a bike. There is extensive damage to my hood and a line across my windshield where the hood hit it. Dodge had a recall on 1994-1999 dodge rams but not 2001 which is the make of mine. So they have not given me any assistance with the damages at this point.

Has anyone else had a similar problem?
