This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
We were driving approximately 45 mph when the hood suddenly flew up and smashed into the windshield. We were able to maneuver the truck to the shoulder without there being an accident. The hood was bent and had to be replaced, hood mounts had to be straightened. A new hood latch was installed as the mechanic said this was the problem that it was stuck open, and in his opinion, defective.
The contact owns a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500. While driving 25 mph, the hood opened without warning. The dealer stated that the safety latch failed. As of October 25, 2007, the dealer had not repaired the vehicle. The powertrain was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 112,000. *updated 12/12/2007 updated 12/12/07
Paint on the hood bubbled up and peeled off for no apparent reason I was informed by co-worker of a proble with the clearcoat Dodge used on some of their vehicles.
