Back in Jan., I received a recall notice for my 2003 ram1500 about the driver airbag. I think it was notice P40. I took the truck into my dealer, southern Chrysler Jeep Ram and they were supposed to order the parts to fix the issue. I have called the dealer several times checking on the issue and each time I am told that it is a parts issue that Chrysler can't get the parts. It is now May 5th and still no fix. I think that the dealership and maybe Chrysler, think that I will just forget about the issue. I promise that I will not forget. In March, I received a second recall notice for the passenger airbag. I think that recall notice is P78. I am not getting anywhere with this dealership and the service manager. I think 4 months is plenty of time to get the necessary parts in to fix the problem. It sounds like I am being given the run around and stall. God forbid that either airbag system should malfunction and cause me injury or possibly death. I have sent an email to Chrysler today with the same information that I am sending you. I do not like riding around in a truck that may have the airbags explode and cause me injury or death. I just wanted to bring this issue to your attention in hopes that, with your help, this problem can be resolved. At the beginning of February of 2015 I received an "important safety recall" letter with a P78 notification code. I have called the Chrysler dealership several times and have been informed each time that there are no parts to repair the recall issue. So I drive around in an unsafe truck"?" called Chrysler today and was informed they have no estimated time for arrival of parts required to make my vehicle safe!! other issue is that same vehicle's dashboard splintered and fell apart, forcing me to replace the dashboard. I sent Chrysler a request for reimbursement of the dashboard (did not charge for labor, just dashboard), in the amount of $295.68 -- and they refuse to reimburse me for a manufacturer's defect!!! it is all over the internet that these dashboards fall apart -- yet they refuse to assume any responsibility, saying there is no recall issued for this problem. A dashboard that splinters and cracks, for no apparent reason, is not a safety issue"?" I was told by Chrysler that the dashboard falls apart because of "environmental issues" (I.e. humidity, air). Just goes to show you how poorly made these dashboards are!! thank you for your consideration.

TL- the contact owns a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact mentioned that there were no failures with the vehicle before the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for this recall repair. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign id number: (air bags) and stated that the dealer fractured the. Key switch and the repair was not completed properly due to damaging a component while repairing the vehicle. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and they stated that the contact would need to replace the key switch to complete the recall repair, however there was no problem with the key switch before the vehicle was taken to that authorized dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure that occured from the dealers repair and the contact was waiting on instructions from the manufacturer to determine if the recall would be completed proplerly. The approximate failure mileage was 126,000. Updated 5/18/15 updated 10/05/2017

I received a recall notice on my Dodge Ram for a defective airbag inflator housing. Stated that I need to contact my Dodge dealer on February 23. I have called 3 times since this date and am told the dealer does not have the parts to repair this. It has been 6 weeks now. Why has a recall been issued if no parts are available? I have done what I was instructed to do to resolve this issue but the issue is still unresolved. I was told by the dealer also that my name was put on a list and when they get more of these issues they will call all in at one time. Not what I want to hear with a safety issue at hand. Lets hope no injuries occur before this is repaired.
