Takata recall. The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that the area on the dashboard where the air bag deployed was warped. The dealer diagnosed that the warped area was due to the humidity. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16V352000 (air bags); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The failure mileage was 324,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
While driving my 2006 Dodge 1500 megacab truck at 70 mph, the truck started shaking violently and out of control. I held it as straight as I could and applied the brakes. The shaking finally stopped at about 20 mph. This was especially dangerous, because it was in the fast lane of traffic during rush hour. I later read some forums on the internet that labeled this problem the "death wobble." It appears, from the many experiences described on the forums, that this is a common problem with Dodge.
