I first noticed the noise after turning the vehicle off. It was an annoying tapping sound. It only made the noise about did I mentioned it was the second hottest day.

I was living in Colorado and driving from work in Greeley to home in Fort Collins, day was warm and turned on the the AC, heard a knocking noise and then blast of heat came out. Since then when I started the vehicle the noise would return and continue knocking with heat coming out. Once in a while this would stop and then return again. I had it repaired in Greely John Elway's Dodge dealership.

I returned to California January 2015 and the situation returned again in February and it again repaired, this time at Tuttle Glick Dodge dealership. Costly and I heard of others complaining the same.

Today we got our first frost and I had no defrosters! It was scary as hell driving to my doctor appointment, which I couldn't skip because I'm on disability. I called the recall # and they gave me a case # to use if the problem isn't covered by the recall (it doesn't sound like it will be). Tomorrow morning I get to drive 15miles with no defrosters, then wait for the dealer to tell me if it's the same problem, if not I have to call the Ram recall # and see how much help they can be. I already read on here where one person shelled out $400.00. I'm REALLY looking forward to this one!

Update from Oct 29, 2014: Well, I also filed a complaint with NHTSA while I was waiting for the dealer to tell me what was wrong. The service manager came out two hours later and told me it was covered under a 2010 recall that had already been done once and the problem was fixed!

I live in CO. Winters can get pretty cold. Had to drive a few hours in negative temperatures with no heat in my supposedly nice truck. Only saving grace was the truck I own has a heated steering wheel. Truck looks nice, has lots of nice features, but you can only polish a terd so much.

Dodge makes terrible vehicles. I have had nothing but issues since I have owned this thing. Transmission just got replaced too with under 70K miles. Now all sorts of new error codes are popping up. I am one month out of warranty on the 5 year 100K powertrain and Dodge offered no help other than the dealership would fix the issue at a cost of nearly double the other local shops I called. Thanks Dodge. Look forward to doing more business in the future.

Repaired an it was OK. But while it was going on it sounded like if the dash wanted to come down.

OK......this is becoming ridiculous. The problem has come back with the system. (AC that is) So this time I when to O'Reilly and order the part. The part number is DORMAN 604-005 the price is $29.99 with tax comes to $31.94. (Florida) Plenty of complains in the internet with this system. Well, it was OK for a while, I would say for about 3 month now. Just a couple days ago Nov 13, 2013. I disconnected the motor from its place and kept the motor connected to the electrical connector but not mounted hoping that would be a solution since I only need the center vents and the defrost to work.

Well now the damn thing won't work at all. The fan will not come on. The temperature setting doesn't work. My automatic light sensor is not working. And I don't have no air condition or heat at all. Contacted Dodge ti place a complain back before this at their 800 number Comp# 23980992 Spoke in Dodge with Keyla, her instruction to call the dealer Hill Kelly Dodge. (Note this was back in 9/23/13) Spoke with Frank gave him the complaint number and he was going to get back with me once he called Dodge and see how it was going to be handle. Well here is December 2013 and no answer or contacts.

Called the dealer (mind you, I don't have anything against the dealer, they are just the intermediary between customer and Company, who is going to pay them for their work?) came to find out that the supposed Frank is not with them anymore.....uhmmm I wonder.... So this time I spoke with Sandy because the problem has to be fix and there is a recalled on the rear pinion nut to be replaced. Well she promised that she will have the Supervisor called me back (this was on 4 Dec 13) an that is unable to do the recalled at this time due to parts not on hand,

So as you can see I haven't gone over the rook an been calm. I was a mechanic I came into the mechanic field back in 1971. From the service I was trained in the Army certified Master mechanic in 79. Change to Logistics No longer wanted to get my hands dirty an deal with others ignorance in the introduction of computers into cars. Trained by Ford in their first electronics in their cars. My solution to this problem: 1. Of course have my truck fix. 2. installed back wire controlled for the HVAC on cars, you want buttons and whistle have them as extras. 3.Train the Mechanics and supervised them in their repairs. 4 Teach them how to used their electronic equipment to test the system in the cars.

This all reminds me of back in the late 60's to early 80's when electronics became dominant in the automotive industry. Why I say this? Not only Dodge has the problems, so does other car manufactures have the same problems with the motor controls in their automobiles. The irony of all this is that their dealers are in the middle. And they are the ones with the mechanics. SO keep listening cause I'm taking this to the end.

I went to shut the truck off and there was a loud knocking sound coming from under the glove box. It just kept going so I started the truck back up, to no avail. Come to find out, the vent was trying to shut or open and was stuck. $400.00 in repairs and 2 days in shop...I will never buy a Dodge Truck again!

The same thing with the clicking noise under the dash. This time the system would only vent thru the bottom towards the feet. It was repair and replace an actuator motor and supposely reprogram ac control head. It looks like is a common thing to have it repair yearly.
