The airbag light is on and the horn does not function. I was told that it is some type of a clock spring that is mounted under the steering wheel. My parents had a 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan that had the same issue and there was a recall on it and it was fixed, but I cannot find a recall for my vehicle which is also made by Chrysler just one year older. I believe this to be a safety problem that is unique to Chrysler. I own a 1995 Dodge ram3500.
Recall repair for the airbag electronic control module refused by dealership, vehicle does not apply with no passenger airbag installed. (99V-023). Mjs

Was driving at approximately 40-45 mph when driver was blinded by sun which caused consumer to run off road hit 6 foot wall sand bank. Driver's airbag did not deploy, causing the driver to hit windshield. Airbag never came on to indicate that there was a problem with it. Manufactuer has been contacted.
Whlie driving 45-50 mph hit a deer on a direct frontal impact, the defective driver's side airbag did not deploy, and defective driver's shoulder seatbelt did not retract in which it did not protect the occupant in this accident. Consumer had attempted to contact Chrysler, however they will not return his call, consumer was injured in accident.
The truck was rear ended by another truck, and the truck hit a school bus. The driver's side airbag didn't deploy. The truck that struck the other truck was going about 80mph.
While driving 55 mph owner tried to stop the vehicle. As soon as owner hit the brake, the front left wheel locked up, causing the vehicle to skid into three vehicles. Owner also states that the airbag did not deploy. Service manager at the dealer said that the brake shoes were installed incorrectly.
After two direct impact accidents there was no deployment of driver's side airbag. Most often owner was traveling at 25-30 mph before impact. Dealer told owner that vehicle was not struck hard enough to strike sensors.
Owner states that he was involved in a head-on crash traveling at 35-40mph and there was no deployment of driver's side airbag. Also, rear ABS brakes locked up, resulting in a crash.
Upon impact, during frontal crash, when hit tree, driver's airbag deployed by breaking through steering wheel cover, then caught on fire, causing interior fire which burned coat driver was wearing.
