My dashboard is falling apart. There are pieces of plastic everywhere including right in front of the airbag, which would quite literally turn into flying death particles if the airbag ever went off, completely defeating the purpose of the airbag. This really should be a recall isue as it has quite a big impact on safety of the airbag system with brittle plastic shards flying everywhere. This didn't happen all at once, it's happened over the years, and I even keep a dash cover on it since the day I got it. The plastic is just simply poor quality, it's not from sun fading, or anything else.

The dash on this truck has cracked and fallen in, exposing the wiring inside the dash to the sun. The wiring insulation is not rated for exposure to direct sunlight (uv exposure) and is decomposing, putting the truck at risk of a fire initiating inside the cab at highway speeds, due to exposed wiring shorting to ground. Dodge refuses to remedy it, despite numerous attempts to resolve the issue with them. It is my understanding that this is a widespread issue, yet the nhtsb has not forced Chrysler/Fiat into a recall, claiming that it isn't a safety issue. Do you need to see death before you act?

I purchased brand new, a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 quad cab truck. The trucks dash has so many cracks in it, that they now have ran into each other and large areas have fallen out. This is a manufacturing defect that Dodge refuses to do anything about. These cracks have been in my dash for years. It is not heat related because I purchased the truck in Washington state and was there for several years before coming to California. This is an electrical hazard and a flying object hazard, should I hit someone or they hit me and pieces start flying from the dashboard. This is a nation wide problem with the dashes from Dodge, it's time they do something about it. These cracks have gotten worse and worse over the years.

The spare tire just dropped/completely disengaged from underneath the vehicle. Consumer was on the highway when the cable broke. The cable is of insufficient strength on this model. Because this is a heavy duty truck the tires are 10 ply and the wheels heavier than on a normal 1/2 or 3/4 ton pickup.

Dealer couldn\\'t diagnose fuel pump problem. Kept reprogramming computer until total engine failure @ 30,000 km. 10 month fight for engine. 6 weeks to replace in shop. Electrical problems still exist since new. Truck has 77,000 km now. It is totally incapable of towing rv, what truck was bought for. Max fuel mileage empty is 10 mpg, 4 loaded. Excessive smoke. All symptoms verified by outside sources, and Dodge states the problem is with me. Am a former diesel mech, and trucker. Dodge refuses outside diagnosis including cummins. This truck has over 18 months of downtime. Just got truck from dealer today again, was told 2 weeks ago that this engine is toasted, then all of a sudden dealer says nothing is wrong with engine. They didn\\'t even have the courtesy to return phone calls or even to call for me to pick up the truck. Dodge will not even accept fuel logs. Have spent in excess of $20,000 out of pocket to keep this bucket going, for things that should have been warranty and outside diagnosis. Am setting up lawsuit now, as I cannot use this vehicle. It has even failed gov\\'t emmision test. Who cares? thanks
