On a 1998 E-350 Van Chateau Club Wagon it is very difficult to service and repair a blown spark plug issue. At the age of this vehicle while still in fair condition and the mileage on it makes it hard to warrant the cost of repair since the engine will most likely have to be pulled in order to make the necessary repairs. If one were to consider a repair like this it might be advisable to check and repair all eight plug ports while the engine is out of the vehicle.
Ford Motor Co. has a problem with this blown plug issue and maybe that is one of the reasons this engine is to my knowledge is no longer available. I feel badly about having to think about discarding this vehicle due to the high cost of repairing it but I think that is going to be the case.
This problem is definitely an engineering flaw that was not anticipated by the Ford engineers at the time, we all learn through experience.
The engine gave me almost 20 years of service with no major problems until now. If any action is fourth coming by Ford Motor Co. regarding this blown spark plug issue please keep me informed.
