I LOVE my Ford Expedition. It has been a perfect car for my lifestyle. I love the leather seats - but they aren't any good without an engine. I love the turning radius - that too is no good without an engine. I love the room for all of my stuff - but that is no good without an engine. I love the comfort, convenience, look, and overall function of this vehicle - which all sucks because it doesn't have an engine!

I bought the car new, off the lot, paid cash. It went from the dealer to having a upgrade on the towing system. After that, no one EVER opened the hood, save to give people a jump, except my dealership until this little adventure. I followed all the suggested maintenance, had all of the checks done at the appropriate miles, and in conjunction with my service manager took outstanding care of this vehicle.

At 118,000 miles the coils went out. The check engine light started flashing and the car was running rough. The Ford shop changed some coils and spark plugs. I went on a long trip. My lovely vehicle started to hesitate going uphill. The check engine light came on and remained on. After reaching my destination I had two more coils replaced. (Second time anyone other than my dealer did anything to the car). I didn't make it 20 miles when the whole process started again. I managed to drive it home 250 miles keeping it bellow 2000 RMP and in cruise control with little issues. I took it back to my dealership. I was informed that my nine year old, 45,000 dollar vehicle with 118,000 miles on it needs a new engine for an estimated cost of $8,500. I got fried cylinders. REALLY????

I planned on keeping this vehicle for another 10 years and bought it with that in mind. This Expedition should easily go 250,00 with minor issues. I realize some stuff is going to puke but the ENGINE???? Now it is sitting in my driveway while I figure out if I want to break up with it or not.

I love my Expedition. I love everything about it - except the fact that it needs an engine. I guess that is common with this year vehicle. So mad. I guess when you buy a vehicle a satisfactory engine doesn't always come with it. Go figure.

I have replaced the timing set three times in less than 7000 miles. Changed the oil pump and and the cam phasers 3 times. My mechanic has checked the engine and he said there isn't anything wrong, but bad engineering by Ford. I am change my oil and keep my truck maintained, but I've sank $2600 into timing in less than a years time!!!!! I think Ford should replace engines for their bad engineering of this engine. By far the worst engine and I'm a Ford man.

In early 2014 at 80,000 miles had the first issue. Engine runs rough... low power and shuddering at low rpm/high gear. Engine Light comes on... codes for bad plugs is read. Ford dealership replaces plugs for about $750.00.

Now, in early 2015... (115,000 miles) same problem (no codes this time) but a new noise... kind of clattering noise that is only heard when engine rps drop due to removing foot from gas or slowing down. The clatter is in cadence with RPMs... Take to a repair shop - I suspect coils due to many blogs stating same problem. Repair shop calls me to tell me coils won't fix - engine is shot and would cost $7500 to replace. My research online finds that MANY MANY people are having same problem with complete engine failure.

I bought this SUV new off the lot. I changed oil religiously and took vary good care. Lots of other little annoying problems but this one is off the chart BAD! Very disappointing. Don't know how I'll come up with $7500 to pay for repair and now its value is almost nil I'm sure.

We'll, I bought this car from Carmax with 48,000 mi. We were in need of a bigger family car.. A little while after getting the car, blew the main hose for the air conditioning but lucky it was covered under the Carmax Warranty .. Then a little while later it had what I now understand is an up and coming problem. It would just jump out of gear and go into fail safe mode and you better hope you have a place to pull over fast because you have all loss of power..

When it happened for the third time in a week I called the dealership. They said they needed to see it happen but then a nice service manager walked me outside and said they made up a code to get it fixed and they just happened to have some throttle body's in stock.....That was also covered by the warranty, it would have been like $680.00...that solved the problem ..

A little later my serpentine shredded like it was made out of paper but I made it somehow to the shop.. Now it started jerking whenever I gave it gas going over like 45mph.. It turned out to be 3 coil packs .. While getting that fixed, fixed the brakes front and back pads and rotors, I knew it was having premature brake issues but at 83000,?

But this will be my last Ford for, sure always had nothing but problems.... My cheaply priced Sentra has 95,000 miles, no issues, ever.. But yet all these problems with the American made car in the 36,000 miles I have owned it.. To those who love to waste money or like to sit at the dealership waiting for your repairs to be completely finished, buy a Ford, you won't be disappointed ...!

It started running really rough then engine light came on. Had it taken into a shop and put on computer...misfire on cylinder 5 and 6. Took to a dealer and had all spark plugs replaced. Ran good for 2 weeks. Then engine light came on again reading misfire on cylinder 5 again. So I take it to the dealer and replace coil packs 5 and 6, this did nothing. Now I take it back to the dealer and they have done a compression test. Turns out the cylinder blew out and now it will cost me around $8000 to fix on my own. After looking over previous complaints this seems to be going on quite regularly with the Ford engine...I WILL NEVER AGAIN BUY A FORD AND I WILL SPREAD THE WORD TO EVERYBODY I KNOW ON FACEBOOK, TWITTER, AND WHAT EVER ELSE I CAN DO TO GET PEOPLE TO REALIZE THIS FORD IS A BIG PIECE OF SH*T!!!!!!!

I see all the past problems with 2006 expedition accelaration issues. This has 90K, and has

trouble on hills, it chugs, loss of power, like the engine trying to compensate for power.

If i floor it on the main road i cannot get past 3500-4000RPM, if i am parked and floor it, cannot get past

3000 RPM. I am reading other posts with possible spark plug, coil issues, and other saying they tried that and

still have issues. Suprised no Lemons out on this or a TSB.

Was Driving home from LA and was about 3 miles away from home was stopped at a Stop light. Then the engine started to Idle very roughly and stopped running, it restarted quickly. As soon as i pulled in to the driveway it stalled again. the next time i was driving and at a stop light and it stalled again. took me 20 mins to get it to restart it sounded like there was no gas getting to the engine i had a dramatic loss of power. I changed the air filter it was running good then the same thing happened. now i am going to change the fuel filter. but i have a feeling that that might not be the problem. if you had had this problem please let me know what the problem is. It's racking my brain.

Expedition Eddie Bauer V8

Engine breaks down between 40-60mph. Feels like it's skipping. Ford replaces coil 1, runs fine for two weeks, starts again, Ford replaces, coil 2, runs fine for two weeks, Ford then replaces coil 3, runs fine for two weeks. Starts the skipping then again! Goes back in and Ford says catalytic converter gone-not covered by warranty $1200 to replace! I say the converters gone because of this coil issue, why should I pay to fix it, plus it's doing it again, if you think it's the coil then replace coils 4 thru 8 and then I'll put in a new converter, they say, sorry but the codes don't call for replacing of coils. I say do you think thats why the converters gone because of the coils? They say yep, then why would I put in a 1200 converter and still have the skipping problem. Replace the remaining coils and then I'll put in a converter. Ford-can't codes aren't calling for it! I'm off warranty now, I've replaced the converter and it's still breaking down between 40 and 60mph, PLUS it goes into ENGINE SAFE MODE, car shuts off while driving! I have nothing put a piece of crap that's not safe to drive and Ford doesn't back their products!

We have the same problem took vehicle in at 79000+ with same problem my husband had vehicle diag. and I took codes into ford dealer one was for spark plugs and coil. The other was for catalytic converter. I was told they were unable to diganoise because codes had been eraesed. When I took it back after my husband had done tune and change the sensors with same problem. FORD is not ownering the warrenty because it is know over the 80,000 mile mark. They now say replace cadiladic converters is going to cost $2200 and not 100% sure this will fix the problem. Not sure what we should do?

Car sputted when trying to pass on interstate. After a few minutes the engine light went off there was a loud pop and it started to run right again. Took it in they replaced the mass air sensor. It is still having the same problem. The ford dealership is saying it needs the spark plugs replaced. In the process of doing that. Before doing that the car will not go over 60mph when driving. Seriously..When in park and revving the engine it will not 3000rpm sitting still. What is going on? There is no way this can be just spark plugs. The dealership wanted $250 to change them. My husband is doing it. Then they said if it continues after that to bring it back in. HELP!!!

What can I say. I Will Never Buy Another Ford No Wonder They Going Out OF Business And I Hope They Do!!!!!!!!!!!!!! With that being said we bought an 2006 Ford Expedition from Buster Miles Ford in Alabama and after 73000 the engine started taping then stalled and running rough. Took it to the dealer and they charge me $400 to check it out then they called me and told me that it had an broken piston and engine block with an $7000 estimate for an new engine. After talking to several service center all told me that 5.4L engine is junk. After Ford and the Dealer blew me off and accuse not change the oil which I did. I done with Them and putting an used engine and hope for the best. Just to make this clear FORD DOSE NOT STAND BEHIND THERE PRODUCT. I have an 1998 Doge Ram with over 180000 on it and going strong.

On 3/15/08, my SUV began running very roughly and the engine light began flashing. I took it to a local but respected garage and they could not figure out what was wrong with it. I then took it to the dealer and their diagnosis was the engine needed to be replaced. The SUV has 39,000 miles. It is out of warranty, but how can a $40,000 car blow the engine at 39,000 miles? The dealer can not tell me what caused the damage. I have done regular maintenance on the vehicle at the correct intervals. The estimate was for $7900 but the dealer offered to take $3000 off the price and they have been very understanding. I want Ford to pay for the rest. This is not a normal issue but a catastrophic failure. If the roof on your house collapsed, don't you think you could sue the builder and be reimbursed even though the warranty was up. I am hoping Ford will see it my way but I am not very optimistic. Any suggestions on how to deal with this issue are welcome.
