Blower in front of Expedition worked intermittently - recall issued for Blower Motor to be replaced because it could "cause damage to surrounding components". Called on 2/20/23 to schedule recall work to be done. 2/22/23 We started to smell a burning smell right before recall was performed (Scheduled for 2/28/23) so called the dealer and asked if we needed to bring it right in or if it would be ok to wait til 2/28. We opted to wait but I was nervous to turn on the heat so tried not to use the car during the snow storms. If I smelled the burning I immediately turned off the heater because didn't want a fire to start(which also poses a safety risk as well as it was blizzards that week and it made it so the defroster wouldn't work). When they did the recall they only replaced the Blower Motor. They called at 2:47 on 2/28 to tell us the issue was resolved and when we picked up the automobile the blower still wasn't working. They took it back and determined the Blower Motor Resistor and Pigtail wires had melted but it wasn't covered under the recall even though the burning/melting wires and burning smell could result in a fire which puts my family at risk.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that his wife informed him that upon parking and exiting the vehicle, the vehicle rolled approximately 20-feet forward and stopped upon hitting a telephone pole. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that no issues were found, and the gear shifter assembly was operating as designed. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing an excessive electrical drain. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the gear shifter assembly module was temporarily removed. As a result, the excessive battery drain ceased. The mechanic diagnosed that the failure was associated with either the gear shifter assembly or the module. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was 90,000.

It seems as this comes in as a common issue with heated seats. The wiring harness Carrie-€™s only 1 ground wire to transmit connection to the heated seat module. This causes the wire to over heat after time and create a short and burn the wiring. Research has shown this issue has melted plastic harness to the module to where consumers have to pry the connector off the module. Consumers are rewiring the connector to include 2 grounds which allows the wiring to stay cool. This seems to be a high safety issue as when an electrical component shorts and causes connectors to burn and even melt can lead to fires. Melting plastic takes high heat and is a for sure sign of safety issue.

The contact stated that after activating the heater, there was a burning plastic odor coming from the front windshield vents. The contact stopped using the defroster due to the odor and the possible risk of a fire. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that while attempting to use the defrost the windshield, the system failed to operate as designed. The contact had self-diagnosed the failure as a loosened wire connected to the blower resister connector wiring harness that caused a short circuit. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent but had become a recurring failure. The vehicle had not been taken to a dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 154,752. The contact called on behalf of his wife who owns a 2015 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at an undisclosed speed, the heat intermittently operated, and his wife started to smell a burning odor throughout the vehicle. The contact also stated that on a separate occasion while driving, he started to smell a burning odor. The contact then stated that he pulled the vehicle off the road to inspect the vehicle. The contact stated that upon inspecting under the dashboard on the front passenger-€™s side of the vehicle, he noticed that the wires had melted with a gray cloud of smoke. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the blower motor resistor melted and melted the wires and wiring harness. The wire assembly and module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 155,000.

When the heater is operated for 15-20 minutes a burning tire or skunk smell issues from the heater. The heater blower is currently of recall concern. No immediate safety issues, but we are concerned and the smell is bad. None of the components have been inspected by anyone. We are waiting on recall notification. No warning lamps or vehicle messages have occurred. The problem was first noticed as the winter weather made outside conditions much cooler and the heater fell into common usage. When heater is turned off the smell goes away.

The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the blower motor failed due to the wiring harness and resister overheating. The contact stated that the fuse did not blow which allowed the harness to melt, causing arcing and increased the potential of a fire. The contact stated that the blower motor was drawing too many AMPs causing the failure. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the blower motor needed to be replaced as stated in NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V648000 (Visibility, Electrical System). The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact stated that replacing the blower would not remedy the problem. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 145,000.

My car was left in park with the engine running and ac on for 30 min due to having groceries in the car. My car caught fire and completely burned up. There was nothing flammable in my car other than the 1/4 tank of gas I had left. Fire chief said the fire appeared to start in the engine. The vehicle was parked in a driveway.

The contact owned a 2015 Ford Expedition. After parking and exiting the vehicle, a fire started under the hood near the engine compartment. The fire spread to the front windshield. The vehicle was destroyed. The fire department extinguished the flames, but had not determined what had caused the fire. The police department towed the vehicle to a yard and then the insurance company towed the vehicle to a facility for diagnostic testing. Landers Ford (19501 I-30, benton, ar 72015, 1-(501) 315-4700) was notified and did not assist. The contact called the manufacturer on November 2, 2018 and was informed that their office of council would respond back within fifteen business days to investigate the cause of the fire. The contact was waiting on their response. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

While idling at a traffic light, the engine of my 2015 Ford Expedition began to labor, evidenced by low and hesitating RPM and reduced fan speed of the air-conditioner. Issue was resolved when the air conditioner was shut off, but has reappeared several times as a result of turning on the air conditioner. I have spoken with other recent model Ford Explorer and Expedition owners who have reported the same issue occurring in their vehicles. This poses a danger to the public as the car's engine hesitates and nearly stalls reducing required on-demand power and acceleration. This has happened while stationary and idling and also while the vehicle is moving at various speeds (0 - 55 mph) on both city streets and highways. Was sure I'd find a recall related to this issue (most likely a vehicle computer issue) on this site, but no active recalls for 2015 Ford Expedition exist.

01 June 2015 driving on interstate 10 from beaumont Texas I entered a heavy rain storm, traffic slowed down to about 50 M.P.H. in a 70 M.P.H. speed zone. I passed a tractor trailer, when the mist from the truck and the rain hit my vehicle, my engine lost power. I removed my foot from the gas, after a few hundred yards the power came back but my engine light was on. The problem happened 4 or 5 times thru Louisiana and into Florida.I took the vehicle back to the dealer palm bay Ford with 3,000 mile since new they couldn't duplicate the problem so I was told there wasn't a problem. 17 Sept. 2015 with 12826 miles I returned to palm bay Ford again, after returning from West virgina in another heavy rain storm the same thing happened, the engine lost power I was told the same thing they couldn't find a problem so no problem exist. This is a safety concern and needs to be addressed.

I was not able to open the rear lift gate, the window did work fine. This would happen every now and then non predictable.. the dealer replaced the latch and was amazed the electric key fob did not work of the manual lift gate. There is no emergency override!!!! if some was in the 3rd road seat, and something happened they could not get out. August 1, 2015 I went to the vet with my dog in her kennel in the back. Outside air temp was 93 degrees. I could not open the back hatch to get my dog out. I had to lower all the middle seats, open her kennel, and "convince " her to come out and walk around. I had to lift her up and put her on the ground. Being handicapped this was not fun.. of course after the vets visit, the darn thing worked it is dangersous!!!
