Purchased 2005 F-150 Supercab used 8/2018 but no problems detected. 1 month later transmission began skipping when accelerated slowly going up hills, and believe it may be stuttering when accelerating from standing start. Problem getting worse by the day. No warranty, so, judging by other complaints, I'm looking at a transmission replacement. This really sucks.
So far from what I have read in my research Ford Motor knows of the problem with transmissions and has yet to recall or fix problem. I don't believe Ford will be receiving anymore of my business if they can't stand behind their own products.
I believe all Ford buyers should unite and boycott Ford Motor Co. and their dealerships. I stand behind all my work, why can't they! I have enjoyed my 2005 f150 Crew Cab but I may not own it any longer nor any other Ford for that matter. If there's any help out there I sure could use it.
While 150 miles out of town my F150 transmission died. There was no warning, no sounds etc. It just stopped. I checked the fluid and it was at the correct level. The engine revs up but the truck just creeps along.
This vehicle has had the transmission flushed at it's recommended service intervals. Additionally this truck has been driven incredibly gently. I can count on one hand the number of times I've given it full throttle.
The extended warranty ran out at 75,000 miles. The transmission died at 77,710 miles.
Ford really dropped the ball on this model line truck. First the spark plugs blow out or seize in the heads and Ford refuses to cover it under the extended warranty. Now the transmissions are failing @ around 75K miles.
I'm about to become a GM customer.

When I took the F150 to the transmission shop, the guy at the desk asked the make model and year. I told him it was a 2005 F150 and he smiled and said we do a LOT OF THOSE. Then he said let me guess you have about 75,000 miles on it? I said it's 77,000 and he said yup there's a 50-50 chance you're going to need a new transmission. The pulled the pan and it was full of metal filings and the fluid was burned. The transmission replacement cost $2950.00. Now I have to worry about the sparkplugs blowing out which is common with the engine in this model.
GOING TO WORK AT 4 AM MY CAR STARTS TO REV VERY FAST AND AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WILL NOT GO INTO GEAR. FINALLY IT KICKS IN HARD AND I GET TO WORK. AFTER LONG DAY AT WORK THE CAR HAS NO FORWARD GEARS AND I HAVE TO BACK IT INTO THE PARKING LOT. TOW TRUCK TAKES IT TO MY LOCAL AAMCO AND I AM STILL WAITING FOR REPAIR EST. $2300.00. CALLED FORD AND THEY SAID MY EXTENDED WARRANTY ENDED THE DAY BEFORE AT 83000 MILES

My tranny in my 05 F150 started slipping at around 65,000 miles. Carried it to the Tamiami Ford dealership while it was still under the extended warranty. Warranty man took it for a drive and claimed he couldn't find a problem. Now I am past the warranty and I cannot mash the pedal to the floor because the motor will just rev high with no acceleration. I've always had Fords, but this is my last. I was thinking about sticking it out by the highway and putting up a sign that says "LEMON".
When deceleration transmission neutualises comes back at 45 mph. can only drive it around town at lower speeds. no one knows whats wrong no computor report shows problem. and im making payments on this.
I have had transmission problems less than a month after I purchased. I moved from North Carolina to Virginia and took my vehicle to Cavalier For in Chesapeake. They have continued to tell me that the issue is within Ford tolerance. I even asked an engineer at the Ford plant in Norfolk about the issue, he told me that there was something wrong and told me to return it to Cavalier Ford.The vehicle was serviced while under warranty, the transmission issue was brought up every time. Truck would be at a stop and I would take off and it would be like the vehicle was in neutral, only to engage and make a monster banging noise. I have offered for the CEO of Ford to take potential truck buyers for a ride and then ask them if they want to buy a truck. Never happened. I also have issues when I am driving and apply more accelerator and it seems as if the transmission slips real bad and the engages, making a horrible banging sound.
Ford has never fixed my issue, I am still driving a truck that has transmission issues.
Dealership blows me off...drove it maybe one mile and said there is no problem. I totally HATE Tommie Vaughn Ford in Houston, TX. Hooking up diagnostic equip did not indicate a problem...truck slips when resuming gas pedal after slowing down or when going up hills.
I purchased my F-150 brand spankin new in 2005. MSRP was 36k. About 2.5 years and 53k miles later, transmission is done. While accelerating when the light turns green, truck wouldn�t go anywhere. RPM meter would be revving, and then car would jerk into gear. Not only that, while going 40-50mph, truck would downshift by itself, then shift back into gear. Transmission malfunction light came on and O/D light flashing. Brought to dealership. Told me that a forward spring broke. Didn�t know how that happened. Transmission had to be overhauled. Took them three days. Got my truck back on a Friday. The next day, stuck again. Had to have it towed back to the dealership. Again, accelerating when the light turns green, but am not moving. Also, truck shakes like hell when trying to accelerate. Only reverse works. Again, they overhauled the transmission and found that the forward drum broke. Another four days in the shop. Got my truck back two days ago. So far so good. Thank goodness I purchased the extended warranty until 60k miles. I just made it!!!!!!! Didn�t have to pay anything. Seeing all these comments about Ford really blows my mind. I thought they were �built tough�. I guess not. Unlikely to buy a Ford again.
My truck has been to the dealer numerous times because of this problem with the transmission. Sometimes they keep it for a week and it fixes it for a while and then starts up again. Sometimes they tell me they are unable to duplicate problem. I am sick of Ford
