well i bought my 07 f150 4x4 in aug but when i went to pick it up it ran rough and tranny slipped so i told them about it at the dealer . they called me the next day and said they got all the bugs worked out to come back and drive it again before i took it home . it worked fine so i took it home and mind you it goes through normal driving and pampered no off roading. couple months go by and i notice the slightly rough running and the trans was acting funny . before i had time to call them the tranny went and slipping in all gears. (of course on the holiday ) so i called the dealer and they told me well your just out of warranty i should have bought the extended . then he told me a good tranny shop to go to LOL. (good Faith in there own shop!). southgate ford in michigan is no help!

F-150 EXT 5.4L Triton

  • Automatic transmission
  • 46,414 miles

I have a 2007 Ford F150 with 46,000 miles on it and the transmission has failed. Lost 1st gear. It started with a feeling like it was dropping out of overdrive and in less than a week it lost 1st gear. I called my dealer only to find out that the warranty had run out less than a month prior. How convenient for them and a true inconvenience for me. I also called the Ford Motor company and their response was that I should have purchased the extended warranty. My response back to them was, Is this how you build TOUGH FORD TRUCKS??, buy an extended warranty, you are going to need it! To the tune of all but $4000.00, $3945.01 to be exact, I wish I would have known. I always thought I would buy a Ford if I ever owned a truck because they were known to be rugged. My opinion has changed drastically!

second time in 6 months that this truck has been in the shop for a major problem!!!! Engine replaced in October of 2012 and now transmission has to be replaced or rebuilt!!! Pretty when my 1994 F150 and 97 Ranger pick up is better than my 2007. Fords has lost it's quality in my mind!!! I have always bought Fords but now will rethink that choice. Six thousand dollars engine, and now a two thousand transmission on a truck that is only 5 years old!!!

F-150 LX 3.2L V8

This vehicle almost cost me my life! I was traveling on a busy expressway, speeds of 65 to 70+MPH. I was towing my motorcycle to a repair shop when suddenly my Ford f-150 made a loud popping noise underneath the truck, the RPM gauge then swung way over to 5, then dropped to 1. The vehicle then lost power and would not go faster than 25MPH. Mind you that I'm on an expressway with cars & Semi trucks behind me traveling at 70+MPH!! I was almost rear ended by 1 car, Then 1 Semi truck! I managed to pull off the expressway and onto the shoulder of the expressway. I then had to travel 2.5 miles on the shoulder until the next off exit. Once at home; ( Thank GOD) I had to make other arrangements to have my motorcycle towed. I then called AAA to have this junk of a truck with only 72,000 miles on it towed to my mechanic. I was then informed by my mechanic that the transmission had blown. For this to happen to a vehicle that was well taken care of by myself is just unbelievable. All fluid levels were changed regularly, and maintenance was never overlooked. I purchased this truck with only 5,000 miles on it!! How does this happen to a well kept vehicle!!?? I WILL NEVER BY ANOTHER FOR PRODUCT AGAIN!!!

F-150 Lariat SuperCrew 4x4 5.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 127,000 miles

I bought a new 07 F150 Lariat 4WD, Super Crew. It was a great truck until 55,000 miles when the 3rd gear bearing went out. Dealer fixed it and drove fine until 94K miles when it went out. I was driving down the hwy at 65 and the tachometer started increasing and the speedometer started decreasing. The truck finally stopped 1 mile short of home and 3 miles from the dealer. They replaced the internal parts in the transmission and all was fine until it started making a noise at 105,000 miles. Dealer changed a sensor and worked fine until 4 weeks ago. When the weather started getting cold the transmission started whining in 3rd gear. The noise would go away when it shifted into overdrive. I took it back to the Ford dealer and they said I was out of luck on getting anything done under warranty but they checked it out and told me there's no noise and everything checked out on the computer test. I drove it two more weeks while I listened to the whine getting louder and took it to a different Ford Dealer. He told me it sounds like the planetary gear and he would need to run another test. The noise is loud in the morning when cold and isn't as loud when it warms up but you can still hear it. Anyone want to buy a nice F-150 with a 127K miles on it? It comes with new tires and regular maintenance!

F-150 Mark LT 5.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 78,000 miles

I have a 2007 Mark LT same as an F150 and the tranny wen 8000 miles outside of the warranty. I had brought a transmission issue to the attention of the local dealership early in t the warranty period and they said they fixed the issue. A short time later the noise cam back and they said it was normal and I was Ok. So I said to note this cause if the tranny goes Ill be back. well wednesday before thanksgiving the tranny failed and i went back on Friday. Same thing i got a thank you for entering new factory rebuild tranny $3000.00. All ford customer service offered me was a free oil change. I fought with them telling them that i reported a Tranny issue well into my warranty and the dealer said it was not related so i got screwed on the tranny. i I am pissed at the dealer and ford for this bull sh*t. it cot me 3 grand and the best kicker is that the factory rebuild has a 100k mile warranty. where was this when the truck was purchased. to me the warranty is great but also a kick in the balls as it has a better warranty than the original. this is such bull sh*t.

My truck is gently used with minimum towing. The transmission began to cut out every time I hit 30mph. The dealership told me I just didn't have a fourth gear. Under 40K miles. I'm lucky because I shelled out extra money for the extended warranty when I bought it in 08. Other people may not be so lucky.

F-150 Lariat 5.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 51,000 miles

With 51k on a supercrew lariat 4x4 I decided to change my transmission fluid since I tow a 6000lb travel trailer a few times a year. I dropped it off with a very reliable independent shop and got a call 30 minutes later saying to come back and take a look at what we found. I go there and he showed me my magnet in my pan before he did anything else and it looked like all hell broke loose. It had small pieces of metal shavings 1/4" diameter and needles from a bearing all over the magnet. He told me it would never last and I still had 2 months left on my 5 yr powertrain so I told him to leave it like it was and put the fluid back in it. I took it to my dealer the next day and they dropped the pan at my request and told me I may have to pay if they continue to pull the tranny and the part not be covered under warranty. I agreed and got a follow up call that it was covered and they had to order and new case also. I have not got the truck back but will add to this post the outcome. IF YOU OWN A 2007 F150 YOU BETTER CHECK YOUR PAN MAGNET BEFORE YOUR POWERTRAIN WARRANTY GOES DEAD OR YOU WILL BE STUCK WITH A $3500 PROBLEM!!

Update from Jan 18, 2012: Got my truck back and the dealership had to replace the transmission case due to a retaining ring that came loose and was causing everthing in the transmission to shift back and foward causing internal wear on the case. Now I dont hear that clunk everytime I slow down or accelerate after slowing my speed. Technician stated all parts looked good. This was repaired under Fords powertrain warranty with no cost to me.

F-150 FX2 5.4L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 76,000 miles

Dealer quoted me at $3317.00 to replace transmission in my 4 year old F-150. I had it towed to Nationwide Transmission and am waiting on a quote from them. The excuse as to why my transmission broke down at 76,000 miles was "something just broke." Well I figured that out when it sounded like the bottom of my truck was dragging on the street as I was driving. My only appreciation from this event is to AAA which has been towing my car for the past two two days for free so I can find a suitable repair shop!

F-150 XLT 4.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 63,000 miles

Put my truck in reverse to back out of a parking spot. There was a popping noise. One loud pop. No more reverse. Trans fault message on the screen. Overdrive light flashing on and off. Would drive forward for a few yards then stops going forward.

Had it towed to the dealership they said it was a catastrophic failure of the transmission's main planetary gear. (Planet Ford Spring Texas) quoted me 3,300 first. Then after a day the service guy says, "I talked to my manager and we can do it for 3,000.00 instead of the $3,500.00??? So I ask the service guy is the truck ready to be hooked up if I send a wrecker up there right now to pick it up and he says, "what price do we need to do to keep your business?" Really? I'm done with them.
