The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated while in reverse, the brakes failed to operate as designed. The parking brakes functioned as designed but there was no pressure on the brake pedal. The contact believed that the failure was associated with a faulty brake master cylinder which failed to allow pressure in the braking system. The local dealer was contacted and notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop as intended. The contact stated that the failure occurred while it was raining. The contact stated that the brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard and the brake pedal had to be depressed several times before the brakes responded as needed. In addition, the low brake fluid warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a failed brake master cylinder. The contact was informed that the brake master cylinder needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V345000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) in November 2016, which included the replacement of the brake master cylinder. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 158,837.

The low brake fluid warning light illuminated. The contact added brake fluid however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that brake fluid was leaking from the brake master cylinder into the brake booster. The contact was informed that the brake master cylinder needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 123,000.

The contact's girlfriend owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while his girlfriend was driving through a parking lot at a low rate of speed, the brake pedal hardened as the check brake system warning light appeared on the instrument panel. His girlfriend was forced to apply the parking brake to stop the vehicle. Due to the failure, his girlfriend had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle with a leak in the front seal master cylinder. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V345000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) which he linked to his girlfriend's failure. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure and informed him that the vehicle was not under recall. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 83,000.
