Traveling 75 to 80 on a busy freeway the truck shifts into neutral and won't shift into gear I have to coast to a stop and restart the engine. This could be very dangerous situation if there is no shoulder and the highway is busy pressing the gas just revs the engine.
Happened 3 times already dealer says there's no code and everything is ok Ford has no record of this but they do... I'm sure I'm not the only one.
It Took over 4 weeks to get a new transmission and get it replaced. After 4 weeks the transmission started having the same problem. Ford replaced components within the engine but that fix only lasted 2 weeks before having the same problem. It’s in the shop now. They said it was low on transmission fluid and that caused the issue - I don't believe it. There wasn't any fluid on my garage floor until after the problem happened.
In 10th gear the computer disengages the transmission and the throttle. Eventually the computer engages the transmission and throttle but does so violently. Each time this happened I immediately smelled transmission fluid in the cab. This last time an error code was thrown - “gear 10 incorrect ratio”
Shifted the 2019 F150 from Park to Drive and the transmission went directly to 7th gear and the Power Train Malfunction Light came on. Restarted the vehicle and it went directly to 4th gear. Please note that I never released the brake. After it was in 4th gear, I decided to start driving and see what it did. The truck acted okay and the Power Train Malfunction cleared. When I contacted Ford, they asked to bring the truck in and gave me a case number. The Dealership stated that I needed a new transmission at 65,000 miles and it was not covered since warranty was only up to 60,000 miles. I have researched issues with the 10 speed transmission and there are a good amount of people that are having major issues.
Was driving on the freeway with stop and go traffic. Once the traffic started to lighten up; I started to accelerate, the truck went from 3rd to 8th gear losing all power and making all passengers lunge forward whipping our necks. My wife looked at me and said "What the hell are you doing?" It was nothing I did, but the truck did not shift correctly. I only have 65,000 miles on the truck and it should not already be having transmission issues. I contacted Ford, they asked me to take it to a dealership. The dealership stated that it needed a new transmission and it wouldn't be covered under warranty since it already had 65,000 miles. This is a major safety concern and I would expect Ford to have a better product.
Started happening 2nd day off of the NEW Ford lot. Scares people on the side of the road when it goes BAM from 4 down to 3rd, and sometimes 5th down to 4th. Have brought it back 3 times. Ford says it's normal. I'm scared to drive it in the rain. Now have 25,000 miles and it clunks instead of the BAM - but now the transmission makes whirring noises constantly... Ford says it's normal.
It's still under warranty but FORD says NO. Well I am NO longer a FORD fan. Next truck will not be a Ford. Most likely never buy another with this kind of quality... (Had to have trim fixed 2x, and the bumper was even crooked off the lot new). They fixed the bumper and interior trim. Motor has a loud sewing machine noise until it warms up to.... (Ford normal again). Not what I expect for a 48K truck.

After a google search it appears there have been tech service bulletins to Ford about this and several complaints including a lawsuit. This transmission has shifted three times (one low speed, two high speed) that I thought I had been hit from behind. Its random and cannot re-create it; thus I hope Ford issues a recall because I can hear it now: "we drove it, everything is fine." This 10 speed transmission shifts weird and hard anyway, but this needs to be looked into.
First drive after sitting for a couple of hours, soft pedal take off-truck falls on its face shifting from 4-5 gear. It is so significant that you and your passengers will surge forward. I know of a few others that have the same transmission, and they are experiencing the same thing with no help from the dealership. They can never recreate the problem when I have them drive it.
Ford said they would replace transmission and now they won't. They say the transmission is operating as designed (adaptive transmission). I am 57 and been driving Fords all my life. Worked in sales department for Ford dealers from 1986 until 2006 and can not believe how they are treating me with this issue. My dad was a mechanic all his life and taught us to pay attention to your vehicle. I still own 8 Fords including the 2015 F150 with 58K that has had zero issues. Other people need to speak up if they are having issues and let Ford know.
08/09/2019 Shudder/vibration noticed first day of delivery, at 203 miles. Notified Ford salesman, salesman test drove it.
10/02/2019 Took it to service dept., the tech did a test drive, and I was told to wait til 10/28.
10/28/2019 At service department 4 days. The same vibration/shudder, 948 miles. A wait for parts, not fixed.
11/06/2019 Parts installed. The same vibration/shudder, not fixed.
11/19/2019 Back to service dept about vibration/shudder. 1106 miles, tech drive. Left 3 days, not fixed.
12/02/2019 Back to service dept about vibration/shudder. 1163 miles, left 6 days, not fixed.
01/14/2020 Back to service dept about vibration/shudder, told to make appointment in a week.
01/20/2020 Back to service dept about vibration, shudder, left 2 days, tech test drive, not fixed, told to make appointment for 2/3/2020
02/03/2020 Back to service dept about vibration/shudder,1459 miles, And I left for days. I asked to test drive other/same equipped vehicle, told vibration/shudder normal and to live with it... but it's not fixed.
5.0 engine has the transmission with a clunking noise as it shifts up in gears, and Ford looked at it and said that there was no problem, but it does clunk.
My truck has no idea what gear to shift to 10% of the time. When going around corners, it stops and has no clue what gear to go to. About 10 seconds later, it finds a gear and goes. It clunks, it bangs, and freaks out at random times. Very unhappy with this 10 speed transmission.
Erratic Shifting (2019 F150, 10 speed trans, 3.5L). Transmission shifts hard (intermittently) from 5th to 4th and into 3rd gear.
Performance Ford in Randolph NJ downloaded an update and that helped a little. As of this writing with mileage of 11,538 it still shifts irregularly on occassion but not as forcefully as before.
I will record notes (keeping a ledger/diary of events) when it happens again, including Date, Mileage and Speed.
Never had a Ford, had driven other F150s. I bought the truck a few months ago, and I didn't really notice anything. I started feeling the rough shifts in lower gears as it was warming up - I thought this was a truck thing or a Ford thing. Did some research and see this is an actual problem, not just a Ford thing. I hope to see it get a little better if Ford can do something about it. The higher gears are really smooth though, so no complaints there.
Bought this truck in March 2020. Problem from get go. Service mgr says it's normal. Get use to it. Now July 2020 still problem. Tired of this mess. Never again a 10 speed transmission. AWFUL!
