At approximately 6:20 PM on Friday, July 26, 2024 airbags exploded on a Ford F-150 while it was on the assembly line (Chassis Line 5) at Ford Motor Company's Dearborn Truck Plant (DTP). Two hourly employees, one of them in the driver's seat, were working on the truck at the time and both were sent to an area hospital for treatment. The line was stopped, but only for about 30-40 minutes. By 7 PM it was running again until the conclusion of our scheduled ten-hour day, which occurred at 4:30 AM. The truck could not be removed from the line where the explosion had happened, so it had to be run all the way to the end of Chassis Line 7, where it was pushed off. Employees were extremely angry, to put it mildly, and concerned about another occurrence. I reported this to the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) on Monday, July 29, 2024. Their complaint number is 2193285.
