I was driving south on Interstate 5 near Stockton CA and I noticed an awful sound coming from the back of my truck. When I gave it more throttle nothing was happening, my truck was slowing down, the more throttle I gave it the louder the grinding noise got. My truck was slowing down to a crawl, and I had to pull off the freeway, the shoulder was only big enough for my truck to fit, I could not open the driver's door because the on-coming traffic would hit my driver's door, I needed to use my passenger door to exit my truck. If was very dangerous because on-coming traffic was doing 65MPG, I had to call tow truck to coming and tow my truck away to the Ford dealership. The Ford service dealership inspected my truck and found that the real axle bolt had sheared off and allowed the rear axle to disengage from the differential causing the truck not to move or have control. Ford Motor Company knows this is a safety issue, I have attached a document, Customer Satisfaction Program 22B34 that proves Ford has had this issue in the past couple of years and seems to think it's still not an issue, Ford will only warranty the repair for the one side that failed. In the document I have attached it clearly states that both axles and both bolts need to be replaced. Ford told me that my vin # is not included in the customer satisfaction program so they will not replace the other axel and bolt. This is a major safety issue for me and the public allowing my vehicle to be on the road the way it is at this point in time. The other bolt could shear off and cause my vehicle to run off the road or cause an accident because of not have control of my vehicle.

Passenger side rear axle bolt, that holds the axle shaft in place, sheared off, which could allow the axle shaft to move inside the axle housing. I'm learning that this is EXTREMELY common on 2021-2023 9.75" 3:73 MAX TOW axle.

While driving on the interstate my 2022 F150 Lightning platinum lost all power to the front motor. The "comfort" mode display showed no warnings, messages, or signals to indicate that power was severely limited. I realized the issue as the vehicle was losing speed as I was going up a grade where the vehicle would hardly maintain 75mph with my foot to the floor. I have pictures from the incident which I have uploaded. (The screenshots are from the typical display, and with the specific vehicle power menu enabled. I did not capture a picture of the "Comfort" display during the incident. I have uploaded an image of the comfort display I had previously taken.)

Rear axel bolt broke, splines on axel stripped off. Truck lost ability to drive while on the highway, creating a dangerous situation. Now truck is at the dealer waiting on parts keeping me from doing my job and causing further financial hardship. For a known issue Ford should have a recall.

The contact owned a 2022 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at 35 MPH, the accelerator pedal suddenly depressed all the way to the floorboard, and the vehicle accelerated on its own. As a result, the contact lost control of the vehicle and came to a complete stop after colliding with a tree. The contact also stated that the failure had occurred four times prior to the collision, with multiple incidents resulting in property damage. The air bags did deploy. A police report was filed, and injuries were reported. The contact was transported to an area hospital by EMT and treated for a cut on his left wrist. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and deemed a total loss. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 1,500.

Rear axle retaining bolt sheered off. Issue was discovered during routine tire rotation at dealership 9/29/23. I will not have parts available as dealership keeps old parts. There were no warning indications of this issue. This is a known issue listed as Ford CSP 22B34 which instructs dealers to replace parts on both sides of the vehicle. Dealer indicates my VIN is not included in that CSP. Because I'm not in CSP the dealer is replacing affected side under warranty, but won't touch the other side. A failed bolt will cause major failure of the axle assembly during a turn potentially causing loss of control of the vehicle. Ford knows both sides need to be replaced, but I have no recourse but to wait for a second failure. Please help.

I have a hybrid powertrain. When the vehicle is in normal mode (hybrid mode - engine off) and I am at a stop after about 3-5 seconds sometimes the vehicle will feel like it is going to move forward even though I have my foot on the brake. When this happens the vehicle will jerk or feel like it was hit from behind. The event is very jarring and scary as you think the vehicle is going to move forward even though you have your foot on the brake.

Max Tow Package option. Rear Axle Bolt failure (broken bolt ). Torque to yield bolt design is apparently a defect they are not able to solve. This is common event as seen on forums. Ford bulletin did not list my build date but my right side axle bolt has now snapped. Ford is mishandling this issue, customers are having repeat failures. Ineffective solutions seem to be being offered.

My wife was driving my daughter to school. While driving on the road, at 20 miles per hour, car dashboard displayed "Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power" and "High-Voltage Battery Warning". Car immediately lost power. My wife quickly pulled the car to the road side. My wife noticed fluid started leaking underneath the car. The fluid leaked along side the battery tray platform. Photos and videos were taken to show the fluid leakage process. Called my car insurance company for road side assistance. The car was towed on a flatbed to the FORD dealership for repair. Dealership service department had trouble diagnosing the problem and finally reported the issue 1 week later. The service person said one of the battery module, No. 76, failed and caused the whole battery system / power train to shut down. I asked: "There are over one hundred modules in the battery platform. One failed and cause the whole car to shut down in the middle of driving?" Service person did not know the answer. Dealer contacted Ford to replacement of the battery module. Ford said the replacement module will take 2 to 6 weeks to replace. Once the the replacement module arrives, dealership will drop the battery platform to replace the module and diagnose for the fluid leakage problem. The replacement process will take 1 more week. Dealership estimate the repair time will take total of 4 to 8 weeks to repair. My wife and daughter were in the car when the car shut down in the middle of driving in the middle of the road. Luckily car had minimal power to pull to the road side and avoided rear incoming cars. It could have been a disaster for the passengers. I checked the Ford F150 Lightening Forum. https://www.f150lightningforum.com. It seems that other Lightening owners are experiencing similar problems. I don't know the total number of problems. I am hoping by reporting this issue, other people could avoid similar dangerous situation.
