NHTSA recall number: 19V904. "parts are anticipated to beavailable late first quarter 2020". Ford has not recieved the parts and or notified me. I just chatted with them on line about this. Here is a copy of the chat response from Ford representative: "carissha at 13:07, Dec 15: Based on our resources, it appears parts are also expected to be available during the 1st quarter of 2021 for recall 19S54 dot 3 brake fluid and anti-lock brake system function. ". this is almot 1 year late to get the parts. No updates to nhsta website that explains the difference. As a general side note. It would be good to have with the recall notice any information the consumer can do to their vehicle to minimize the impact of he recall on the vehicle if possible. Examples 1) weekly check of brake fluid, 2) function of device being recalled ie trunk or hood latch... thanks for all you do.

I had the ABS hcu fail. I was fortunate that I had plenty of room in front of me to stop. I understand there is a recall on this. However a year later Ford still doesnt have to part. Is this timely" what is reasonable time? what am I to do, but drive a faulty brake system? Ford solution is I pay to fix it and they will reimburse me what they feel is adequate. I am a bit confused. Do they have the parts" I have their refusal letter to fix it and text that they will reimburse me to fix it.

Being in motion the 15 of November 2020 I experience an extended brake pedal failure same as stated in the January and October 2020 Ford recalls. Because the high risk of a crash my car was towed the 18 of November for repair to mccoy mills Ford in fullerton, ca (phone 714-5265501, invoice 986572) where the service advisor daniel inzunza contacted Ford Motor Co. Who did not approved any repairs because the required spare parts of the recall will not be available until first Q of 2021 and spite of that Ford Motor Co. Did not authorized a rental car. Complaint I require an assistance of a rental car because the spare parts that were going to be available in 1st Q of 2020 won't be until 1st Q of 2021 and I can not drive mine due the high crash risk for the present extended brake pedal failure

As I was leaving a parking lot and making a left hand turn onto the main in and out of the company, I was unable to stop or slow the vehicle down to make the turn due to the breaks going out or not operating properly. Resulting in the vehicle crashing into a large boulder. 3-4 days previously I received a notice on brake recall for this vehicle but the noticed said that due to covid they do not have a fix or parts to repair the recall.

On the afternoon of November 16, 2019, I was travelling through a suburb of philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The road is a 4 lane road, two in each direction. It is heavily trafficked. I was travelling in the left hand lane heading westbound. Traffic to the right was coming to a stop, as a car was stopped in the lane with it's four-way flashers on. The left hand lane was slowing to a stop as a car was attempting to make a left hand turn across traffic. I attempted to come to stop. My car began shaking and I had use both feet to hold the break down. At the time, I didn't think anything of it and assumed it was because my car was getting old. My car did not stop, despite my best efforts. At a low rate of speed, I rear-ended the car in front of me which then hit the car in front of them - the one attempting to make a left hand turn across traffic. There was minimal damage on all cars involved. A month to two months later, I received a letter from Ford indicating that there was a recall on my anti-lock break system and that I would be notified when the parts became available at my local dealership. As the insurance claim progresses, I was advised by my adjuster that I should report this accident to NHTSA.

19S54 recall. Spoke with Ford and took car to dealership. Break pedal goes to floor. Been advised by dealership that Ford will not take any action until first quarter of 2021. If I want to correct the problem now it will be $1,300 that I may or may not be reimbursed. The recall has been out for over a year, they only have the parts if you pay for them. Please assist

Braking issue. While driving, twice last winter, I had to brake suddenly and I lost braking ability to stop in a timely manner. The pedal goes to the floor and is very slow to stop. It takes multiple times of pumping the brake to get any pressure back up to brake. I've had multiple shops look at it and have replaced the brakes themselves and they do not find anything wrong. The last shop had to bled the brake lines and found air bubbles in the lines that need to be bled out, which seemed to help. Fortunately, I have not had any accidents when this occurred but have come close.

My husband was driving at about 35 mph down a two lane road in the right lane and he went to stop at a stop light and when he hit the brake petal, it vibrates 4 times and then the petal went to the floor and the brakes stopped working and he could not slow down or stop the vehicle. Since there was a pedestrian to his right on the sidewalk and the vehicle in front of him was smaller than his car, he chose to drive in the middle through the two lanes of vehicles. He ended up hitting 3 other vehicles before our car stopped. After he got home, we checked to see if there were any recalls on the car since we were confused why the brakes failed out of nowhere seeing as we had recently put brand new $80 brakes on our car and found out that there had been a recall on the ABS system last January, but there is not a replacement part yet available until November. I truly believe that this accident was caused due to faulty parts that Ford made this vehicle with and now my car is totaled and I did not have collision so because of the faulty ABS system, I now have no car and damaged 3 other people's cars. Thank god this accident was not fatal and no one was injured too badly due to the unsafe ABS system in the 2009 Ford Fusion. - (recall related incident)

The contact owns a 2009 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving and depressing the brake pedal, the pedal went to the floorboard causing the braking distance to be extended. The contact stated that she had to constantly pump the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to West herr Ford of rochester (4545 w ridge rd, rochester, NY 14626) where the dealer took a picture of the VIN and refused to test drive the vehicle. The contact was informed that a test drive was unnecessary since the part needed to repair the vehicle was not yet available. The following day, the contact took the vehicle to O'connor Chevrolet Inc (3850 w. henrietta rd, rochester, NY 14623) for an oil change and the vehicle was test driven by the underwriter at the Chevrolet dealer and was informed that there was a serious problem with the brakes. The vehicle's brakes randomly cease working. This has led to several near collisions, including at least one high-speed incident where the brakes failed on the interstate and nearly caused a serious crash. The dealership has known about this recall for nearly a year and has yet to fix the issue. They claim they don't have the parts and claim the issue needs to be taken up with the manufacturer. When contacting the manufacturer, they claim it is the responsibility of the dealership to fix it and will not help either. It is wildly unacceptable that manufacturers and dealerships can produce and sell cars with brakes that randomly shut down completely and not fix the issue. This is no small matter, brakes that spontaneously stop working are one of the most dangerous issues that can happen to a car, and such a issue should be addressed immediately. Before the recall was made public, the dealership charged us on two separate occasions to fix the brakes and claimed they were completely fixed. We are caught in a vicious cycle of both the dealership and the manufacturer refusing to help and claiming that it is the other one who can help us. This is a known and public recall (NHTSA recall number 19V904), and we should not be terrified of dying in a car crash because our brakes randomly go out and the responsible parties keep dodging responsibility. We have made multiple attempts at contacting both the dealership and manufacturer to no avail, so we are writing to the NHTSA for assistance in this matter.

Today I experienced a frightening degree of brake failure. I was on a freeway off ramp which was on a downgrade. As I was going over some minor bumps in the road, I applied my brakes and lost about 80% of the brakes. I heard a strange noise and thought it might be the anti-lock brakes. I had to push my foot way down to the floor to stop the car & it did stop. This failure continued for about 5-7minutes while driving in stop & go city street traffic. I was ready to pull over at a safe spot when I noticed the brakes returned to full power and continued to work properly for the last 10 minutes of my drive. Now I'm afraid to drive this car, especially with children or passengers. I received a recall notice earlier this year regarding the anti-lock braking system on my car. It was dated January 2020: 19S54 / NHTSA recall 19V-904. I've researched this problem and see that it has caused accidents already. When I called Ford about this notice, I was told it was only an 'alert' and they'd let me know when parts are available. That was 9 months ago. The notice said parts were anticipated to be available the late first quarter of 2020. Now that I've experienced this deadly hazard, this is not acceptable when the possibility of a crash exists due to brake failure! I want to get my car repaired now. Please tell me how to go about this and prevent any future accident, injury or death.

The vehicle: 2009 Ford Fusion VIN #[xxx] was recalled due to defected anti-lock braking system my son purchased the vehicle in December 2018 from drive now motors, hillsborough blvd, tampa (now located on Florida ave.) the owner name is sam. I added the vehicle to my existing insurance with windhaven. We returned the vehicle a few weeks after purchasing due to the brakes not working properly. The dealership made some adjustments and told us it was fine. But I continue to complained after they made adjustment because it still did not work right for me, but the owner did not want to help us any further. On April 10, 2019, the car was totaled when my son lost control of the car driving into our community wall. We reported the accident to windhaven insurance; they opened the claim but we heard nothing else about it. They did pay for the wall repair in our community. Almost a year later, we received the safety recall notice from Ford (in January, 2020). I contacted windhaven again and was told the state (figa) was handling this claim, and given the 800# to get more information. After making numerous contact with the figa, I was told my insurance was cancelled because windhaven went out of business; and I had to send an email to request my claim be reopened and investigated with this new (recall) information. I also contacted Ford manufacturer about the recall and the brakes problems that led to the accident. The representative took my information and said he will investigate and contact me, but I never heard back from them. I, therefore, contacted figa again and was eventually referred to an adjuster. [xxx]. he referred me to this complaint page because he said there was nothing else can be done because we didn't have comp and collision. We need this matter investigated because the incident with the brakes is counting against my son. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Ford has issued an advance recall notice 19S54 (NHTSA 19V904) with interim suggestion of brake fluid flush, reservoir cap replacement, and hydraulic control unit (hcu) testing and replacement if necessary. The issue is that some recommended brake fluids have corrosive agents that degrade the hcu and cause it to stick open. When this happens the brake pedal travels further than it should increasing the risk of accident. I have had this happen twice with no accidents, but it is very scary as the brakes have to be pumped to work properly. I contacted a local Ford agent who has declined to provide the recommended interim solution with free parts and labor as recommended on the advance notice. Since the first time my issue happened was prior to receiving the recall notice and resolved itself (intermittent) quickly. The second time this happened I was aware of the recall and haven't driven my vehicles since. I did not contact the Ford dealer immediately as I had access to an extra vehicle. However, I have since lost that access and now need this issue resolved and have not received the second recall notice that was promised when parts became available for final solution. I do not have the funds to pay for interim resolution and need Ford to honor the language of the advance recall notice so I feel safe driving the car. Both times I experienced the brake pedal issues was while driving on city streets. However, my son experienced the issue while on highway driving. I confirmed the issue while driving it during my second experience.
