Engine cut off and the car entered in to safe mode (battery only drive system). Took it to dealership and they said the throttle body needs replacing. It seems to be a common defect. So much so that Ford issued a selective recall, but mine isn't included for some reason. Dealer claims they have replaced a lot of them.

I was driving at about 30 mph when a yellow wrench light icon came on. The car stopped accelerating, and it seemed like only the electrical power from the battery was keeping it going. I had just exited a busy freeway where people were going 65 mph and higher, and if I had not just happened to exit I fear I would have had an accident.

While on the highway driving at 60 mph the car would not accelerate and started loosing speed, till it got to 40 mph. The wrench light came on. I had to pull onto the side of the highway, turn off the engine and restart. I was able to drive home well. The next day it happened twice again. I took it to the dealer and they fixed the throttle body and motor assy. I am not happy they charged me for fixing this issue which is their fault. They had performed a full inspection 15 days earlier and the car was fine according to them. Now I see there are a lot of complaints like mine. Thank goodness there was no accident involved.

Monday, Jan. 27 - power suddenly gave out when accelerating on freeway. Service wrench had been on earlier that day but had gone off. Dixon Ford told us it was ok to drive. I was in left lane and had to cross 5 lanes to get to median. Took it in to walnut creek Ford and they "re-flashed it", saying no concern was present at the time. They gave the dangerous car back to us fri, Jan 31st 130 miles driven in 2nd lane (one from carpool lane) at 65 mph accel lightly suddenly, car¿'s gas gave out, like before the road curved to right. Try to steer car right to follow lane as car decel noticed that steering not responding, even to strongest inputs (almost like locked, like car was off) tried to hit brakes, but pedal sank to floor no response regardless of pressure. Kept pressure but car did not slow began to drift passenger grabbed wheel also and tried to pull right. Gradually started to go right, but with extreme force applied. After force, wheel at most 5 degrees turn emergency brake to slow (not stop) steering corrections could not sufficiently turn car so car slammed into concrete median at 50 mph tightened emergency brake and continued to pull on the wheel slid along median as car screeched car finally stopped on the left side of freeway gear selector locked in drive turned off the engine while the selector was still in park. Responding chp officer K. alleman asked us to drive car to the other side of the freeway could not start car. Turned key 3 times but car refused to respond. Getting very hot in the car, just like mon, prob 95º -100º ambient temp again when ext. Temp. 58º finally able to select neutral and release parking brake. Car did not start pax&I had to pull hard to get wheel to turn at all incident report #[xxx] officer confirmed brakes, steering, and power were all gone. Details in rept. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Car wrench light cam on upon starting the car. The electric hybrid system took off on its own and cruised at 30mph without any pressure on the accelerator. Very dangerous that the car will accelerate without touching the gas pedal. I cruised down a vacant stretch of road for 5 minutes at 30mph without touching the gas pedal. The hybrid system kicked in and has a mind of it's own. Very creepy. I will see if it is the throttle body but mine is a hybrid and it may be a little different this should be addressed by Ford asap.

When driving on the highway at 65 miles an hour, a wrench light went on in the car and within seconds the car lost power and I was only able to go 20-30 miles per hour. Got off the highway, pulled over at a gas station and turned the car off. After about 15 minutes I turned the car back on (thinking it might have been an issue with my hybrid battery), the car seemed to working okay but just to be safe I drove the car 10 miles to the local Ford dealer. The service advisor took a quick look at it and agreed that it was the battery (said it had probably gotten too hot) and told me the car was okay to drive. Went to grab lunch and then 45 minutes later got back on the highway and as soon as the car got to about 60 miles, the same thing happened. So again I got off the highway and going about 10 miles per hour went to another Ford dealer to have them look at it. They determined it was a failed throttle body and replaced it the next day.

Car performing normally then wrench symbol comes on dash and car accelerator would not respond. Limped car over to Ford dealer on the hybrid battery. Dealer who did not have staff enough too look at it for 2 days. Towed over to dealer near me. Heard today it is a bad throttle body and associated electronics and going to cost $600-$700 to replace. Looking a the internet it sure seems a lot of owners are having the same issue. There is actually a video now on U-tube on how to replace yourself there are so many of these throttle body's failing.

Powertrain warning light appeared and car would not accelerate above 25mph. Issue cleared and then light came on again a day later, this time car drove fine. Took to dealer and diagnosed sticking throttle body assembly. Dealer reported this happens frequently and $500 cost is not covered under warranty. Quick internet search showed this seems to be a pervasive safety issue that is not being addressed adequately by Ford.

While turning around in a parking lot and neither braking or accelerating but simply coasting with the wheels turned very sharply, the car suddenly accelerated. Quickly slamming on the brakes stopped the acceleration. This was not a floor mat problem since the floor mat is anchored and cannot slide under the accelerator.

I was on the left lane going 55mph on a freeway up a slight incline when I noticed I was losing speed. Pressed the gas pedal a little harder thinking I needed to compensate for the incline, but the car would not accelerate. I noticed a yellow wrench appear on the left side of the dash display. I had the gas pedal to the ground and car still would not accelerate but decelerated all the way down to 30mph where it stopped decelerating and maintained this speed. I had to maneuver at 30mph off the freeway to get into the right shoulder lane. Turned the car off, then back on. Yellow wrench no longer visible and car operated normally. This poses a very dangerous situation. Luckily it was not during rush hour traffic and the cars behind me yielded to my hazard lights and let me get to the right shoulder lane.
