The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion hybrid. The contact stated that while attempting to stop, the brake pedal became very hard to depress. The driver used the parking brakes to stop the vehicle. During the failure, the ABS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to bill knight Ford located at 9607 South memorial dr, tulsa, ok 74133, to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the ABS module failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 86,000.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion hybrid. While driving approximately 30 mph, the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard when it was depressed and the ABS warning indicator illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to roush Ford (located at 5575 keim circle, columbus, oh 43228, 614-888-333) where it was diagnosed that the brake booster failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA campaign number: 19V904000 (service brakes, hydraulic); however, the recall stopped at models manufactured in 2010. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 58,710.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion hybrid. The contact stated that the ABS module had a glitch that caused the brakes to fail while the vehicle was in motion. The ABS indicator would illuminate when the failure occurred. The contact stated that the system would reset when the engine was turned off for five minutes. The vehicle was taken to Ford crestview (4060 S ferdon blvd, crestview, fl 32536, (850) 682-2721) where it was currently being diagnosed. The manufacturer stated that there were no recalls and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was 99,000.
The vehicle shows an error on ignition stating "check advancetrack" and the ABS light comes on. When driving the vehicle in this condition it has manual brakes, and they must be pressed to the floor to engage. Turning off the car and re-starting it sometimes clears the error and I am able to drive the car normally, with ABS and highly responsive brakes. Ford dealership says it's caused by the failure of the ABS module and the hydraulic control unit (hcu), which they claim are normal wear items not caused by driver and the cost of repair is $1,800.
My dash warning lights for the brake system, advanced traction control, brake failure, and check engine light came on all of a sudden and my brake pedal went straight to the floor when I was coming to a stop... almost causing an accident. My brake pads and rotors are all in good shape. My tires are in great shape as well. There was no warning before the pedal went straight to the floor.

Driving in city traffic, probably about 25 mph and went to brake as someone merged into my lane but pedal went to the floor with no resistance. Warning lights went off on the dash regarding brake failure and ABS and advance trac. I was able to pull the emergency brake and move into the middle turn lane to avoid hitting the car in front of me. From that point on brakes ceased to function reliably--sometimes jerking to an almost stop and then nothing, sometimes just nothing, had to continue to use the emergency brake to get home and to the dealership in the am and it is basically a miracle that I made it safely. This is clearly not a mechanical part wearing out--like brake pads etc. But rather some kind of computer failure that happens without warning and is extremely dangerous.
Red dash light showed brake problem. Brakes failed entirely.travewling on street less than 10 mph. Car was towed tp dealer. A module was replaced. Two weeks later red ABS brake light went on, brake pedal went to floor to stop. Traveling on city street less than 10 mph. Car was towed to dealer.
While moving on a dry, asphalt, city road, approaching a stop sign, the brake pedal was depressed, but the brakes did not engage at all. The emergency brake was applied to stop vehicle. Then slowly moving forward and retesting brakes produced the same result. Then turned off ignition and restarted ignition. Then normal braking function returned. Took car to a mechanic and no corrective taken (everything tested ok). Incidentally, left front and rear tires were recently swapped. So tread wear was different between left and right tires on each axle.
My 2011 Fusion only has 61K miles. All of a sudden, couple of days ago, the break would go all the way to the floor and the car would barely stop. I had to use the parking brake to stop. Luckily, I was in a parking lot and trying to pull out of a slot when this happened. The dash had the wrench symbol and also brake system warning and service advancetrac message. I barely managed to stop and turned off the engine. And about an hour later, when I started the vehicle the warning messages went away and the vehicle behaved normally. Without taking chances, I took the vehicle to a local Ford dealership and explained clearly what happened. They ran some diagnostics and determined that the ABS ECU and the ABS hcu unit need to be replaced (cost $3,125). What really appalls me is that a vehicle with only 61K miles would completely lose its braking ability and put the occupants and the people on the road in serious jeopardy. Either I could have been killed/injured in a serious accident if I was on a highway or I could have easily run over a pedestrian or a cyclist on a city street. Makes me shiver thinking of these situations.
Brake failure..Ford Fusion a.B.S... I was exiting a parking lot at approximately 20mph for a right hand turn at a stop sign. As I approached the stop sign, I went to slow down and stop, and the brake pedal went all the way to the floor- the car did not slow or stop. I grabbed the emergency brake and pulled it up, and the car still did not slow or stop. I went beyond the stop sign and rolled into a city street. There was oncoming traffic so I accelerated to be ahead of the approaching traffic. I very slowly drove the 1 mile to my home. The ABS light, brake light, and check engine light were all on. The vehicle was towed to a Ford dealer. The brakes checked out ok, however, the a.B.S. system failed. The a.B.S. module and a.B.S. control were faulty. The same model parts replaced the faulty parts!!! when will the brakes fail again?? only 63,000 miles on the vehicle. The Ford service advisor stated, "the brake failure was due to nothing you did". this was a very frightening experience and thank heavens I was not driving faster or on a freeway. I know of 2 other people that have had similar experiences (brakes to the floor and not stopping) with Ford Fusion brake failure. I have encouraged both to report to the NHTSA, however both are fleet cars and they are not the owners.
I was driving home from work going about 35 mph on a 2 lane road and traffic in front of me suddenly braked hard so I did also. I hear the ABS make a noise and then several warning lights came on and I didn't have any brakes. I swerved to the side of the road to avoid an accident. I realized that the brake was very spongy and if depressed to the floor I had minimal brakes. I turned the car off and then on and the condition had cleared and my brakes were normal.
After filling up my tank, I proceeded to exit out of a quiktrip parking lot, back onto the street, when my brakes failed to stop the car. Luckily enough, this did not cause an accident and I was able to pull the car over in a nearby parking lot. After pulling over the service advancetrac light came on, in addition to the check brake system light. I checked the fluids, which all seemed to be fine. However, the brakes would not stop the vehicle unless pressed completely to the floor. This drastically affected the stop time which would definitely lead to an increased risk of an accident. I ended up having to get the vehicle towed as I did not want to risk driving it home.
The brakes suddenly became ineffective and required a lot of pressure to bring the car to a stop. The braking light system came on when this happened. When the car was turned off on again it seemed to reset itself. I tried to get the brake software updated by frontier Ford in santa clara and they would not do it without charging me. They said it was out of warranty and it was not covered. This is despite the fact that this problem has been covered in the past and there have been many complaints about it.
Was driving on the highway about 65-70 mph E-break light came on and car turned off traction control try breaking break pads where very soft and had the felling like you could not stop very scary Ford should recall those cars and fix it very dangerous or deadly
We were driving in the freeway the car went from 80 to zero it would not go. It stalled in the fast lane almost causing a chain reaction. The vechile has been 'fixed' over 7 times. The dealership cannot figure out what's wrong. Many people online have had the same problems some people have died from accidents. This is very unsafe. Ford says they have recalled some vechiles but not all. They even suggested because it was older. My mother has a 2017 hybrid and is experiencing the same thing as me. The car is not safe at all! if someone doesnt make the fix it many people could be hurt
When driving up an iced hill, tcs light flashed, indicating loss of tire traction. However, after fully losing grip, the braking system disabled itself and the vehicle ended up sliding down with only the basic braking system available to try and stop. Emergency brake was applied to no avail. Tcs, tcs off, brake, and ABS indication lights were on. The tcs was not off prior to trying to drive up the hill. Vehicle health report run on car indicated a system failure in the car and requests that I bring it into a dealership immediately. This happened at 2 am in the morning when no dealerships are open.
All lights on dash such as ABS, traction control, wrench come on. Have no breaks. Have to push petal to the floor and stay hard on it. After a few days to a week you get in the car and its like it never happened. This has happen 10+ times in 6 months
Our 2011 Ford Fusion hybrid has had three potentially dangerous brake malfunctions. Each time, the brake pedal feels as if it has gone down to the floor. The first two incidents ' one in Feb. 2015, and one in Dec. 2016 -- were very similar. Both times we were driving slowly in a parking lot, but when the driver tried to stop, lights on the dash lit up, the brake pedal felt as if it went to the floor, and the brakes did not engage normally. Both times, we took the car to the dealership and were told that computer codes indicated a faulty brake booster. So far, we've had the brake booster replaced twice. After the second brake booster was installed, the car worked fine for two days. Then, we were driving slowly in our neighborhood, and, when my husband pressed the brake pedal, it felt as if it went to the floor again. This time there was no indication from lights on the dash. The car did not stop until after we had gone through a stop sign. We had the car towed back to the dealership. This time, they re-bled the brakes and then replaced the hcu. The dealership told us that the brakes are now repaired. But one of the troubling things about this problem is that the car will drive well for a period of time. Then, for no apparent reason, the brake pedal will seem to go to the floor and the brakes won't respond normally. After our second malfunction, my husband tried turning off the ignition and then re-starting the car, and the brakes seemed to function again, too. There are reports about a computer glitch on Ford Fusion hybrids built before October 2009. But could something similar be affecting a 2011 Fusion hybrid?
Without warning, brakes seemed to fail. Brake peddle had to be pushed further down with more force to stop the vehicle. Several warning lights related to service and brakes lit up on the dashboard. After turning the car off and then restarting the car about 20 min later, the brakes were fine and working normally again. Dealer diagnosed that electronic ABS module intermittently fails. Stated it could fail again without warning
In a shopping plaza went to stop at a stop sign and brakes became spongy and car was very difficult to stop where normally expected. When finally stopped it seemed to want to lurch ahead dashboard had a red " brake service" warning light and then a number a number of yellow warnings appeared. Happened again at another stop sign on my way home. Drove to the nearest dealer where car is serviced and they pulled a code C1012 memory continuous code. They could not recreate the problem and released the car back to me. In Sep 2015 car had software updated after a " tool" kept appearing. After you turned off car they brakes seemed to work ok. I'm concerned if this happens on freeway.
