premature clutch wear premature clutch wear

I made a booking for my 60 000km service, whereby I also requested them to have a look at the clutch since it felt to me as it was slipping.

The technician inspected the car and noted that the clutch slipped a bit in second gear. Ford said that is was a wear and tear item and it would cost me R24 000 to get fixed.

I have never been hard on any of my vehicles' clutch and am questioning the quality of the clutch system.
