While on [XXX} in Memphis, I lost power and many indicators came up on the dash. I was able to coast at 20mph to dealership. But this could've been way worse. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I think it's a software issue. As of today, I've had the problem three times since having my BCM and PCM reprogrammed. The truck will suddenly loose power and go into some kind of limp mode. The dash screen starts throwing notices in quick succession: low gear only, check advancetrac, hill assist not available, powertrain malfunction/reduced power, pre-collision assist not available, the light indicating what drive mode (reverse, park, drive, etc.) starts flashing and then switches itself from drive to park, and then the parking brake turns itself on.
Just had a recall completed related to software programming in the past 3 weeks. Since then this has occured twice. While driving at highway speeds the vehicle quickly lost/reduced power and slowed down to 20 mph and produced a message that stated " Powertrain malfunction/Reduced power, engine service soon, and precollision assistance not available". This caused me to almost be rear ended and get into an accident with other vehicles on the road. It likely would have resulted in an accident/injury if not for light traffic that day. Ford has stated they cannot reproduce the issue.
Driving on the freeway and lost gas engine power. Had to coast across several lanes of traffic without propulsion to get the the shoulder. Shut off the vehicle and restarted and it has worked fine for the past couple of months.
My Ford Maverick is one of MANY that has a problem with mold. Mold is growing under the dash in the front passenger footwell. This issue is caused by a water intrusion. There is likely a manufacturing issue with the right front of the truck, which allows water in. The truck has had a problem with fogging up quickly since I purchased it new from Ford. My family's safety is at risk because the mold has led each of us to feel sick after riding in the truck. The truck is going in tomorrow for warranty work. Ford MUST recall every single vehicle that is effected. This is a serious health risk. Plus, the defective seam could fail in an accident, leading to injuries or deaths.

Drivers side front brake makes grinding noise, Ford dealer mechanic states I do not drive it enough. The brake noise is most apparent at low speed. Second problem. Using remote entry at night does not turn on interior lights, nor opening the door. But after using the truck and turning off the ignition the interior light is on.
Low speed grabby brakes. When I go to park my maverick hybrid at the last moment it stops you very suddenly under 5mph. And my back up camera has frozen up a few times now mening when I back up the camera does not keep movies but stays frozen in 1 spot.
Grabby brakes at low speed. Even after getting the suggested fix from Ford my vehicle still has the grabby breaks. There is also an issue where coming from a fast speed down to a lower speed the vehicle starts to vibrate violently until I either press the gas or press the break. Seems like the breaks are pulsing on and off very fast causing it to shake.
The truck battery connection is faulty causing it to loose complete power to the vehicle after driving and turning off it won-??t restart. No power means no hazards, complete blackout on the vehicle. This is reported on YouTube by so many other-??s experiencing the same issue. They replaced my battery which was not the issue, the next day I experienced the same dead vehicle issue. Ford also did not tow it, they wanted to charge 626.
Twice, within a one week period, my hybrid vehicle failed to start. In fact, the key fob failed to unlock vehicle. I changed the battery in one key fob and still wouldn't unlock the vehicle. I had to unlock vehicle manually with the key and vehicle still wouldn't start. Vehicle dash board and all interior lights not working. Both times service was called and vehicle started right up with a jump from a battery pack. No check engine light was displayed either time. I have checked the Ford Maverick owners website and a bad wiring harness appears to be a problem that many hybrid owners have reported that Ford replaced to resolve this problem. I am concerned that this defective wiring harness could be a fire hazard. Also now the vehicle is unreliable and could leave me stranded on the highway or die in heavy traffic or when trying to merge or exit the interstate near my home.
When I use my remote start option and just put my key in the ignition and start the truck it has a constant burning wire smell. If I come to the truck and turn it off after remote start and just restart it with the key I don't smell the burning wire. If I don't use the remote start option and just start my truck with the key I don't smell the burning wire smell.
I got back to my Ford Maverick Hybrid after work yesterday and it was completely dead. Nothing at all worked. I was able to jump start it with a friend and drove it straight to my local Ford dealership. They checked the batteries and they were good. I have been reading online Ford Maverick Hybrid forums about these 'dead Mavericks'. Most of the murmor is that there is something wrong with the harness connector or cable of it. But for what it is worth I do want to report my dead Maverick after only six months and 7k miles and zero issues up til now. I love this truck to death I hope they solve this issue.
Random shaking when I step on gas. Makes the whole truck shake but stops when I take my foot off gas and reapply. I took it to the dealership and they said they couldn-??t find anything wrong and there-??s no check engine light. It happens 2-3 times a month and only under light acceleration.
Purchased new 7-22-2022. On 8-10-2022 drove 14 mi, parked for 2 hours, tried to start truck, message on dash said -??stop safely now -??, with red triangle, check engine, battery warning lights. Tried repeatedly to start truck waiting 15 minutes each time, wouldn-??t start. Used ford pass on phone to call for tow. When tow arrived 30 minutes later the truck started like normal. Drove around parking lot while tow truck waited seemed normal so I drove home. Had dealer check 12v battery on 8-12 and it was fine. Made appointment for diagnostic testing for 8-22. Other owners have received -??stop safely now-?? message while driving on highway, engine lost power and coasted to stop on side of road - obviously a serious safety concern.
I was driving on the highway at about 70 MPH when the truck gave me a "Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced Power" notification & the red battery light came on. The truck then had a "Pull Over Immediately" (Not 100% sure on the wording) notification on the dashboard and stopped accelerating. Once the notification popped up and the truck stopped accelerating, the air conditioning & power steering also stopped working. I was able to coast long enough to get over to the shoulder where I was able to call a tow truck. While waiting for the tow truck, the truck would not start, the hood latch would not open, and it was unable to shift gears so it could not be put in neutral to be towed.
When I shift into drive gear it hesitates to go until it kicks into the battery drive mode. When I am at a stop sign you can feel it switching over and when I go to push on the gas to go from the stop sign it doesn't go immediately until it shifts to the electric mode. When I am in a drive thru and it switching from electric to gas mode it jerks like the transmission is going to fall out
Vehicle had a check engine light go on for voltage. At 4K miles. Later that day loss complete power nothing electrical worked and it had to be towed to dealership. Stayed at dealership service for over a week trying to diagnose it.
Hybrid Maverick completely loss of power overnight, multiple error warning received on Ford Pass APP. Jumped and at dealer awaiting resolution. Many others with same problem on Ford Maverick Forum. Vehicle can lose all power while driving or parked. Can be very risky/dangerous for vehicle operators.
