While driving, I suddenly lost braking ability when the front brake hose failed. Luckily, I was stopped at a set of traffic lights less than 1?km from home when it happened. I had to cautiously continue at very low speed with effectively no brakes, using the handbrake to slow and stop the vehicle, while hoping no other cars pulled out in front of me. I managed to maneuver the car off a very busy road and into a side street. This was a frightening and extremely dangerous failure that could easily have resulted in a serious accident.
This is now a costly repair that should be covered by Ford, as it is a known brake hose defect, but because my VIN is not listed under their recall, Ford claims it is not their responsibility. As a result, I am forced to pay out of pocket for a serious safety failure that is clearly a manufacturer fault. It is ridiculous that a known defect is ignored solely because my VIN falls just outside the recall range.
