Engine head gasket blew out, allowing coolant to leak inside the engine compartment. Dealer has replaced engine head gasket once before, for the same defect. Problem is occurring again.
I am reporting this problem due to the fact that Ford motor fails to admit there is a problem. I have spoken to many garages in the cincinnati area and they have had to replace many head gaskets. The mechanics at castrucci Ford said they have repaired two Windstar and were working on the third. This problem could cause catastophic engine failure and possibly result in an accident!!!! I feel that Ford should recall these vehicles.
Head engine blew while driving vehicle on the highway at apporx. 55mph on a normal road condition. Vehicle was taken to dealer, repairs were made at the cost to consumer. Consumer pointed out that a manufacturer's. recall was done to 1994-1995, concerning head gasket.

While driving the van about 30 mph heard a popping noise. When owner looked under the van the rear connecting rod was broken in half. The van will be repaired.
Outer hood panel separated from body of vehicle prior to recall (97V-180). In addition, replaced front electric door latch/multifunctioned wiper switch/windshield wiper switch/engine cylinder head gaskets due to coolant leak, and differential seal.
