Problem first occurred in the middle of a snow storm. ABS light would randomly come on while driving with the code C1185. Problems mostly occur in cold weather. Could be very dangerous if the unit stopped working while stopping on a slippery road.

The ABS warning light comes on intermittently. Ford dealer said that the ABS module was failing, that it would work sometimes and sometimes not, until complete failure. Also told me it was safe to drive even if the ABS system did not function. I had the funds to pay for the repairs, the Ford dealer seemed reluctant to do them, so they did not fix it.

The ABS light went on after operating the Windstar for approximately a mile. Since I new I could continue to operate the vehicle safely, I completed my errands and returned home. When I arrived home I felt excessive heat from under the vehicle and upon inspection found that the right front brake was engaged. The other three brakes were in normal position. I had to replace the front rotors, pads, and right front caliper. I also replaced the brake fluid as it smelled burnt. With the ABS module connected, the front brakes would lock, so I had to disconnect the ABS completely.

ABS and trac failure lights come on, windows won't go up and down, cruise control cuts in and out and the check engine light flashes when cruise is on. Ford refuses to deal with this situation and stand by their product.

ABS light has been coming on for years. Ford tech could not fix, and has cleared the following codes on several occasions - all related to the anti-lock braking system: C1185, C1194, C1198, C1210, C1214, C1242, C1246, C1250, C1254.

The ABS light is on constantly. This indicates that the ABS brakes are not working at all and is a significant safety issue.

The ABS light stays on and the brakes make a loud noise (sounds like an electrical issue)when stopping. I checked the pads and rotors and they appear fine. I have bleed the brakes to try to resolve the issue but it didn't help. Not sure of the original incident date as I bought the van used a few months ago.

I have been having this problem for about 7 months. The ABS light comes after 2 minutes of driving and it stays on till I shut off the engine. I have taken it to mechanic to see if its something simple but replacement would cost too much. So far I have been driving it. Whether or no its safe-don't know. Hoping the brakes would still function correctly.

The ABS light comes on randomly while driving. Ford dealership determined that the ABS module was bad, and replacement would cost $1250, however, I would be safe driving it without the repair. The regular brakes would still function correctly, I just would not have the anti-lock brake system. Because the vehicle is 14 yrs old, I opted not to have the repair done at this time.
