Additionally, the contact stated that clamps were placed on the axle in 2015. The vehicle was towed to quality auto mall (55 state rt 17, rutherford, NJ 07070, (201) 935-2400) where the failure was diagnosed as a fractured axle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and did not assist. The failure mileage was 195,000. The VIN was not available.
The contact owns a 2001 Ford Windstar. When attempting to make a turn into her drive-way at 40 mph, smoke began emanating from the rear of the vehicle. Upon further inspection she noticed that the axle had fractured, and that the tires were tilted. The dealer was notified, but no assistance was provided. No repairs have been made.
