ABS and brake lights began coming on my dash. They will go off periodically, and then come back on. The first date this happened was in 2010. I drive a 2003 Ford Windstar. I took it to the auto shop right away and was quoted over $1,000 to fix it. I asked what the part does and was told that it mostly controls the ABS system. I asked him what I could do if I did not fix it, because there was no way I could afford that. He suggested to pump my brakes when braking. The system is dangerous when trying to make a fast stop. I have been hearing that it has happened to other vehicles of this same model vehicle.

I have a 2003 Ford Windstar with 94,000 on it. Bought it second owner with 18,000 miles only on it and a 75,000 mile warranty. My entire frame is rusting from the door panels to the under frame, supports. Heck I have a hole that developed the size of my fist in the side frame near the passenger sliding door in the rear. My hitch wont even hold cause the metal just bends inwards. There are cars on the road with 150,000 that do not have the rust my car does. Why do I have to pay for the cheap metal they used during this process. Now I have to buy a new car that I cannot afford at this time. I was hoping to keep my car for at least a couple more years but now I cannot, its dangerous. They even told me my rear axle is bending. I will continue to drive my car cause I cannot afford another and if I die so be it I guess cause I guess its all about business as usual. Nothing personal but I am putting my blood on your hands and Ford hands. I cannot drive and lose my job. If it happens it happens when it should have. My sister also has a Windstar that collapsed this weekend upon making a turn thankfully at 25 mile per hour. I drive 70 at times where permissible. Thank you for listening to my concerns and my distinct rudeness. I am just fed up with holding the bag for big business. I paid alot of money for this car. First owners paid 26,000 I paid 19,000 used only two years old. Had it only five years. Heck I had my Dodge for ten. Please please do something before I or someone else dies.

Brakes on 2003 Windstar needed to be changed. After changing brakes and bleeding lines, ABS and brake line would come on during driving intermittently and remain on. Brake pedal would either be at acceptable level or have very little pedal (almost to floor. Changed master cylinder, rebled the lines. Still having intermittent ABS and brake light come on (usually once a day and continuing to remain on) car has acceptable brake pedal, but cannot figure out why ABS and brake light come on. Have had car put on and scanned by computer 3 times...no faults show. This is a major concern as the brakes have remained fine for stopping, but will it continue or will I find myself with serious issues in the future"?"

My 2003 Ford Windstar has been continuously giving my electrical problems. First the rear parking sensors disengage when in reverse. While driving the ABS, brake and traction control lights come on the dashboard. I'm not sure what it does, but the vehicle does then not function properly. The traction control and brakes don't seem to be working properly.

With no prior problems to report, I was suddenly unable to put my vehicle in gear after starting it. The gear-shifter felt somewhat loose as if I were parked at an incline without putting the hand brake on. However, I was parked on level ground. After turning the vehicle off, I was finally able to get the vehicle out of park and into neutral where I was able to start it and put it into drive. Whenever I placed it in park it was extremely difficult to get it back into any other gear however, it would randomly go into gear as if there was no problem. But once placed back into park it would get stuck again. Now there is all kinds of wacky electrical stuff going on...window swithches aren't functioning, no tail lights, fuel gage is not functioning and the remote alarm entry only unlocks the drivers side door. There is a clicking in the left side of the steering column when trying to utilize any of the listed electrical functions.
