I have repeatedly been having problems with my power steering in my 2015 GMC Acadia. The power steering lines and pump have been replaced twice and now i'm working on the third time it hasn't been 6 months since i had the second one replace, as well as having the power steering fluids flushed, also had to have a wheel alignment done, Neither repair has corrected my problems. The power steering becomes very stiff at low speed's, for example in parking lots. In addition the steering is very noisy and makes a whining noise at low speeds, also a LOUD popping noise like something is broke as I'm turning the wheel. I've seen many similar complaints and know that GM has recalled some other models for this issue. When will the 2015 Acadia be added to the list?

Acadia Denali 3.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 48,277 miles

In late July, I started noticing that my steering was incredibly stiff when I was coming out of low speeds (parking lots, driveway, etc). Shortly thereafter, stains started appearing on my driveway. Took it in to my local mechanic and confirmed what I already suspected, that the power steering pump in my 5 year old Acadia Denali with only 48,200 miles on it needed to be replaced (to the tune of almost $1K).

Needless to say, I was pretty pissed. This isn't a repair I should be having to do on a five year old vehicle with low mileage. When I googled it and saw how many other people were complaining about the same issue, it just pissed me off even more. This is clearly a known manufacturer issue that they've done nothing to rectify.

My car suddenly started groaning and whining. I could barely turn the wheel to get in and out of a parking spot or my driveway! I looked under the hood and the car- there was fluid everywhere. My whole power steering pump now has to be replaced. I called GMC after reading the numerous complaints and asks for recalls about this same issue.I am still under the 60,000/mile drive train warranty but wouldn't you know it, the pump is not covered so I have to pay $1000 out of pocket for an issue that seems to be ongoing with GMC, who still refuses to issue a recall. Extremely costly and frustrating.

Acadia Denali

  • Automatic transmission
  • 43,000 miles

This is my 3rd Acadia and I never had this issue. I turned in my leased 2012 SLE Acadia and just bought a 2015 Acadia Denali. I have had it a month an a half and am at about 43,000 miles. Just like clock work, according to the other complaints- my steering is not functioning properly. Parallel parking, u-turns, and simple parking has been on and off difficult for about a week. I haven't decided if I should take it to a dealer or a private mechanic- it seems GMC hasn't been helpful. I am not happy about this and certainly wouldn't have purchased the car. I guess I never had a steering issue since I was leasing and never reached mileage over 32,000. Bummer!
