2004 GMC Envoy unsafe hitch. Consumer states that clip is supposed to hold the hitch pin in place is so designed to fit over the pin to hold it in place, is not safely design. Consumer is requesting reimbursement. The consumer stated a safer design for the pin and clip would be to have a hole drilled into the pin whereby the clip could be inserted into the hole thereby alleviating the possibility of the clip being jarred loose from the pin. The consumer stated while driving, the trailer slightly went airborne, flipped on the passenger side, then on the drivers side, and the tongue of the trailer started hitting the back of the vehicle. The consumer soon discovered the safety chains had come loose. The manufacturer of the hitch denied the consumers claim. They stated that their product was safe and there was no stress on the clip.
