A few months ago, my car radio started to go in and out without touching it. It would just cut on when it wanted and off when it wanted. Took it to the dealership and was told It needed a "software update" and it would be $150. No problem. The next weekend after getting the diagnostic, I took it in for the repair / upgrade. By this time it had gone completely out and was no longer just doing the in and out thing. When I say completely out, I mean, no lights, no noise, no navigation, no camera, no blinker light functionality, NOTHING! Was told they couldn't perform the "software update" because the radio would not turn on at all, they couldn't figure out why it wouldn't come on, but yet I was told it was an electrical problem and it would cost $1700 to fix! WTH!!! I bought the car brand new with only 12 miles on it (actually it was my Mother's Day gift May 2012) to this date, I have 55,000 miles (fairly still a new car) I have replaced the battery 3 times in the last 4 1/2 years due to faulty or corroded post. Although I take very good care of my vehicle, interior and exterior, maintenance etc. I don't have an extra $1700 laying around to pay for this. I don't feel like this is something that I should pay for on a car that is 4 1/2 years old, especially due to an issue that is not a cause of something I did or did not do. Out of all the cars I have had in my life, new or used, never have I ever had this issue with my car radio. One of the reasons why I wanted this car was because of the back-up assisted camera and now I can't use it. Of course this happens at the time when I 'm being told my extended warranty had already expired. I just need to know at this point, what are my options? Perhaps there was a re-call that I missed? What are the lemon laws if any applies to this issue.
