Wakes up neighbors... in EV mode...
The manual's notes on EV mode sum it up:
"This mode allows you to drive in residential areas early in the morning and late at night, or in indoor parking lots etc. without concern for noises and gas emissions.

The Active Vehicle Alert System (AVAS) is very noisy and irritating. My neighborhood is affected with this Noise Pollution to point where I am embarrassed to drive in early AM or late PM. Several have noted "What is that noise". It is also quite annoying and distracting in "normal" driving.
I have had 5 Hybrid cars in the last decade primarily because. They were quiet so this has been an absolute nightmare to find out it can't be disabled. I was not informed prior to purchase that they had made this strategic modification.
Now a major source of local noise pollution without any real value.
Honda really dropped the ball on this and blames "regulations demanded the change".
Many non hybrids are equally silent, so the implementation is no more than another silly "feel good" virtue signal.
Other than that, it would have been a very nice car.

Many have acknowledged the paradox of a Quiet Mode (EV) and a Noise Generator at the same time.
The manual's notes on EV mode sum it up:

Fix this or stop misleading people. It's either a marketing failure or deceptive advertising...
