ENGINE OVERHEATED WITHOUT WARNING; NEED A NEW MOTOR NOW

My 2007 Civic has only 74K miles on it. I am almost done paying this sucker off, and had originally planned to keep it another 5 or 6 years. Honda initially offered to pay 80% percent of the repair bill; leaving me to pay $1300. Total cost of repairs is around $7000. Then they offered 90%, leaving me to pay around $800 after all is said and done.

THIS IS A KNOWN MANUFACTURERS DEFECT. HOW IS THE CONSUMER PUNISHED FOR BUYING A VEHICLE FROM A COMPANY WHO NO LONGER PRODUCES A VEHICLE WORTHY OF OWNING? THE TOTAL REPAIR BILL IS MORE THAN I OWE ON THIS VEHICLE. WTF? FOR REAL? HONDA DOES NOT THINK THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, YET WHEN MY ENGINE OVERHEATED AND SH*T ON ME, I WAS ON AN INCLINE (WITH KIDS IN THE CAR) AND ALMOST ROLLED INTO THE CAR IN BACK OF ME!!! HOW IS THIS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE??? DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE FIRST TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT?

I AM HOLDING OUT UNTIL HONDA OFFERS TO PAY AT LEAST 95%, AND I DON'T THINK I SHOULD EVEN BE THAT GENEROUS. THERE ARE NO STORAGE FEES AT MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP, SO MY CAR IS GOING TO STAY IN THEIR LOT UNTIL THIS IS RESOLVED.

Sorry for screaming, I have been without my car for 2 months now... ANY ATTORNEYS INTERESTED IN THIS COMPLAINT?

I bought the 2007 Honda Civic for it's reputation, reliability, name, etc. At 50,000 I have a cracked block and engine will be replaced. The repair will cost me nothing as it's covered under the dealer drive train warranty, but really???? A new engine at 50,000 miles, reallyyyyyy?

I am very upset about about the cracked block in my 2007 honda civic. We only have two cars and my wife is without a car now. On Friday May 14, 2010 I took the car to the dealer. The service advisor did not mention anything about it being a manufacturing problem, with honda vehicles. Now I am still waiting for an answer about how much i'ts going to cost me. The estimate was $4,500. dollars and I don't have that kind of money for the repair. So I am contemplating not fixing the car and let it sit in the garage for now.

Similar to other experiences, my daughters car was just serviced 4 weeks ago with no issues. She has been driving it daily with no problems. The car did not show any warning lights and suddenly started to shake. She pulled over and the car stalled as the engine light came on. No warning lights or anything prior to that. Come to find out the block is cracked and the engine seized. Car is under 3 years old, but over on mileage, so not under warranty. Hard to believe Honda is not recalling these cars for inspection.

I also have a 2007 Honda Civic that I have always taken care of. Now I have a bad block! No warning-started leaking radiator fluid. It is very upsetting. I wonder if my car will ever run good again after the repair is completed.

Came back from the grocery store, while unloading groceries I noticed a huge puddle of anti-freeze on my garage floor. I contacted my local Honda dealership and brought my Honda in for repairs. I was shocked to learn that my car had a cracked block. Luckly it was still under warranty (barely). Honda fixed the problem but will only give me a 12k or 12 month warranty on the parts or workmanship, everything else will still fall under the current warranty. I'm not sure if I should trust the reliabilty of this car now or if I should trust buying another Honda. Anyway, I'll be trading this lemon in!

I was 700 miles from home when I discovered coolant leaking under my car. A friend noticed a crack on the engine. I checked the Internet and then went to the dealer armed with information that there was a service bulletin for porous Civic engines. After a day, Honda dealer confirmed that the engine block was indeed cracked. Mileage at that time was 59,200. Honda installed a new short block and I had to pay for a week's car rental fees and take a trip back to pick up the car. Civic was well maintained and serviced at a local Honda dealer. How many cracked Civics engines will it take before Honda admits that they have a serious problem? Honda needs to warn unsuspecting Civic owners to be on the look out for coolant leaks. The new engine has 12,000 miles/or a year warranty and I wonder if the new engine has the same defect porous engine block. Come on Honda, take care of those cars that have over 60,000 miles. You have sold your customers a car that has a engine defect and you know it.

I really want to shove my Civic up Honda's ass..Crap..F&%$..always took care of the car and brought to a Honda dealer for service and one day this crap happens, both Honda and dealer wouldn't take any responsibility over it. Freaking customer service manager from Honda even told me it was not a defect even though they freaking know it's a defect on the engine casting. let's file a lawsuit people. Screw Honda!!!

My 2007 Civic has 77,000 miles and it stranded me on the side of a busy highway this week. Cracked engine block is the cause. Honda is very much aware of this mechanical defect and has issued Service Bulletin 08-044 but is refusing to recall or pay for this disaster. PLEASE FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE NHSTA - if they get enough complaints, they will force Honda to issue a recall.

I am experiencing the same thing as the other five 2007 civic engine complaints and 45 2006 Civic's. The car was running fine I noticed the temperature was rising. No coolant leakage is visible from outside. My last car was a civic with 220k miles and it was running great. My car prior to that was a 1990 accord with 190k. both were reliable and that's why i chose to buy a Honda again. My next car will probably be a Hyundai as its quality is getting better and better, and it provides longer warranty. (ironically, as Hyundai used be the "worst" brand, but now I trust Hyundai more than Honda)

I want to let others know that my 2007 Civic now has a NEW engine. I went for a routine oil change and was told my antifreeze was low. I took the car to my dealer and the kid in the shop came out with a container of antifreeze and topped it up. About a week later my husband said that there was fluid (lime green) on the floor of the garage and suggested I take the car to the dealer. I dropped it off and got a call a few hours later from the service department saying that they were going to replace the engine. They said that the block had cracked and hinted that it was a really good idea I'd brought it in. the dealership paid for a rental car and the engine was replaced in two days. I don't know if I should be pleased with how easily my car was fixed or angry that it had to be fixed in the first place.

Add my name to the list of Cracked Engine blocks for the 2006-2007 Honda Civic's. I too called American Honda, took it to the dealer, and will get a rebuilt engine. Tried to get Honda to send me the TSB (08-044) for posting but he declined. Only had 37k miles on it. Doesn't look good for American Honda...I wonder if the foreign built Honda's had similar problems?? Hmmm....maybe I'll contact Howie Long and look at Chevy's again.

Civic LX 1.8L 4 cyl

I have a 2007 honda civic with 66,000 miles. About 10 days ago I began having problems with AC cooling after driving the car for 12 miles. Later the same day after driving for about 20 miles the AC stop working and the temperature gage started climbing. By the time I got home (10 miles) the gage was in the red. I check coolant revevoir and coolant looked okay. I check the Coolant again 24 hors later and it was fine did not see any leakage on garage floor. I did not drive the car for over a week. The day I took to the mechanic; drove 12 mile, the AC was working but the engine temperature indicator was going up quickly again. To my surprise and that of all the mechanics at the shop they found out that the ENGINE BLOCK WAS CRACKED. I contact Honda Corp. and explained what had happen and before I finished the story they new what I was talking about. They mention Techical Sevice Bulletin 08-004. I was given a case # and advised to take it to my nearest Honda Service (Daytona Beach). They would fax the dealership the problem and have them confirm the engine cracked. They also told me that if the Honda dealership will not 'assist' me with the repair (car is past warrantee) To contact them again and they will do something.

The dealership thought that I had overheated the engine to the point it steamed for it to have that kind of crack. I related to them the same story above. They call me 24 hrs later saying that They were told by Corp to take the whole engine aapart. They had also order the parts. They offer a rental??? and was told that They will contact me first if there were any charges incurred. I'll know more next week and keep all of you posted.

If anyone is having this problem please contact Honda corp first 1-800-999-1009

Wow...its hard to believe so many people are experiencing the same problem. Aaaaand no recalls ? Ridiculous.......I was lucky enough to catch the problem before any over heating occurred but I can just imagine what other people are having to deal with. Im at only 45,000 and have a cracked block?!....Obviously my warranty is still good. I dont know what id do if i was expected to pay for this. Hmmm Im thinking I should get rid of this car before I do have to pay for HONDAs mistakes.

Although it was covered by the power train warranty, the expense of a rental car wasn't... the dealership didn't stock the parts (even though Honda had a bulletin out on this problem for 2006 & 2007 civics) and I was in a rental for 7 days! Last Honda I will ever own!
