This is my THIRD Honda-my first one went 325K miles!! This is a lemon, especially the brakes. I had a Honda Master Mechanic repair it and he asked if I was related to Mario Andretti! RRRR...NOW I know it wasn't me....GRRRR... I thought that I'd done research and my homework to purchase it - Consumer Reports gave it a good rating.... thanks for your help.

On my 2010 Honda Civic, I had to replace my front brake pads and machine the rotors after only 36 000 km of driving. When the service department at my dealership let me know, I thought they were joking. I previously had a 2001 Civic and did not to have any brake work until I hit 65 000 Km. The service department said that the cause of the brakes wearing so quickly was my driving habits. I was completely offended by this because I obviously had the same driving habits with my old Civic. Searching online, I have discovered that this premature brake repair is a common problem, and none of it is covered under warranty.

At 35k this is the second time I have replaced my brakes! The rotors were trashed in the inner side, so I had to replace it too. The Calipers dust boots were all cracked, so they would need to be replaced too!!This is definitely ridiculous and now I have chosen to not use Honda OEM parts. I cant wait to sell this car! I will never purchase a Honda again...Never!!

My 2010 Honda Civic Coupe is a lease out of Mission Hills, CA in April 2010. As of today September 24th, 2012, my Honda has 25,352 miles on it. A few days ago I started to notice a squeaking sort of sound. I thought it was others cars around me since I knew my car was still new and is hardly driven far at all (I live 5 minutes from work). The next day the sound got louder and I knew it was in fact me, and coming from the front left brake area. But the catch was I wasn't even touching my brakes! It sounded like a metal on metal squeaking/grinding and I am no expert on cars but I know enough to know this was premature for my brakes to be having issues already.

I made an appointment today and took my car to the Honda dealer in CA. (Screw him!--so rude!) He was not only rude, as if they were way too busy for me, but he made it clear he wasn't going to even offer to diagnose the problem. I told him about the noise and he instantly said it was the brakes. I said that's ridiculous and I only had the car brand new for 2 years. He asked how many miles it had and when I said 25,000 he laughed and said, "Your lucky, most Civic owners are lucky to get 10,000"! He then told me it would cost $230 to replace everything as it wasn't covered under the warranty--considering the brakes were just worn, and it was my turn to laugh...he was out of his mind ( I guess being a 5'1" 25 year old woman makes me appear dense). I told him I'd make an apt to come back(sarcasm)...pretty sure he knew I was lying.

After just now researching I see I am not alone with this problem and Honda's negligence to admit there is a defect with their brakes. I see there were lawsuits and everything, and yet Honda still won't admit they have a defect and replace it all? Unbelievable...and what is amazing is that I have always thought of Honda as a reputable company and good reliable cars. I was already in the market for a new car and Honda was one of my top three choices to switch from my lease into a purchase. After this situation they can go f** themselves and I am going elsewhere. Sad day Honda, grow some b** and own up to your problems before you lose more customers.

This is my second time having premature brake wear problems on my 2010 civic. The first was at 15,900 and now at 29,000. The second set of Honda pads only lasted 13000 miles. This is just ridiculous.I had to pay Honda $50 to have them tell me that it was just my pads and "aggressive braking" that caused this. I expected more from a company that states reliability and safety. I will be fixing the brakes myself (since I'm not paying $200+ for 13K brake pads and hopefully the class action lawsuit out there for the 2008-2010 Civics gets settled quickly.

Experienced LOUD, GRINDING, noise coming from the front passenger side while driving- (noise-not consistent). 30,000 miles 2010 Civic EX, cared for and serviced regularly. Took Civic to the dealership and diagnostic came out to be: BAD BRAKES!! This was a HUGE SHOCK and PRICEY surprise!! Not only did the brakes wear out prematurely (in mine and others opinions) but the dealer had the audacity to overcharge me. Embarrassed to say I paid: $400. As an naïve 1st time buyer, I overpaid. The dealership tech woman ripped me off. I am very disappointed, as I thought Hondas are reliable and economically inexpensive to repair vehicles. Any POST recommendations?? I know this is after the fact.

My 2010 Honda Civic is my 4th Honda. I did not know there was a brake problem until I heard a metal scraping sound. I took my car in for repair and the front brakes had to be replaced along with the rotors. I had no warning that the brakes were wearing and did not expect it because I only have 23,000 miles on the car. I have also had to replace the windshield because it cracked. I have always loved driving Hondas but this 2010 does not even compare to my previous Hondas!

Drivers side front brake started making a loud noise while driving. The sound stopped while braking. I couldn't believe I had to replace pads with only 25k on the car. The upside is it was very cheap to repair, less than 30 for the mid-level replacement pads. This was the easiest brake job I have ever done, maybe thirty minutes total. So great job Honda for making this car easy to replace your brake pads. It's only one bolt on the caliper and no stupid shims to put in place. Shame on you for using such terrible factory pads.

Back brakes had to be adjusted. I don't understand why this wasn't taken care of in the factory. I have a honda Pilot, no problems and had a 1998 Civic. Again no problems.

So here we are again. The brakes! Go for an oil change and I found out

the brakes are bad. What the hell is going on with this company.

This is a 2010 Honda Civic EX that I lease and this car that I've leased for the last two years only has 2,100 miles on it. I've noticed that when i press on the brake pedal about half way down it feels like it's not going to engage and feels like it's going to break and go to the floor if that happens.

I just got off the phone with Miller Honda in Culver City and he told me it may not be covered under warranty if it's the brake pads. The car ONLY HAS 2,100 Miles on it. I may not get this taken care of seeing the lease is up in a year with the few miles I drive. After this Honda experience I'll NEVER lease or buy another Honda again.

I just dropped my basically new honda civic off at a reputable dealership and guess what $$$275 to fix my brakes and rotors. I only have a little over 10,000 miles on my car. I go from work to home mostly with an average of 10 miles a day on my car. To put things in perspective I have had my car for almost 2 years this July w/ that little mileage. I can not believe I need new brakes!! I owned a '97 Toyota Camry for 10 years before this and never had issues this prematurely. Get it together Honda!

My daughter's 2010 Civic, with 17K miles, developed severe front braking problems where she felt the brake pedal went down to the floor, and the car was not stopping. We went to the dealer and they replaced the front pads and resurfaced the rotors for a total of $203. The price was a "special" they were running, and they wanted me to be confident my daughter was safe at last!

After reading all of these Honda brake issues, I think the confidence I feel is that Honda took me for a ride I hadn't planned on.

I always purchased American cars, and shunned the Japanese models. I switched to Hondas after American car quality went completely south over the past decade. I guess now that Honda is 80% made in America (only the Camry is more "American made" of all cars, foreign or domestic label), we are reaping result!

I looked up on auto zone Break Pads $35set Rotors $37each. Where the hell is the rest of my $511 going? I'm never going back to factory service unless its something covered by warranty this is ridiculous for something I don't even believe is my fault since when the hell do breaks go metal on metal with the rotors after 25k miles?

Much to my surprise my 2010 Honda Civic with 22,500 miles is falling apart. It is only a year old and just came out of it's first winter. Front end started squealing. Had no idea what it was. Took the car to DIX Honda in State College, PA because I was on a trip. Dix Honda pulled out the brake pads and told me the front brakes were shot. I looked at the pads and on the LF the outboard pad was worn to the noise indicator but on the other end of the same pad there was a lot of life left. On the RF the inboard pad was completely worn out. The outboard pad had more than half the life left. The rotor had heat stress indications on it. Clearly something was not releasing properly casing the inboard pad to drag and overheat the rotor. I told the DIX service manager that the braking system was not functioning properly. Pads should not drag and wear reasonable even. He was like a programmed broken record. "Honda does not warranty brake pads". I told him the proper statement is Honda does not warranty worn out brake pads in a properly functioning brake system. From a loyal Honda customer perspective I think they did a bad job handling this issue. I was so excited. Honda waived the brake inspection fee to tell me that my brakes were worn out at 22,500 miles. What a bunch of losers.

Every third oil change I need now need a brake job. I have a friend who has a 2008 Civic EX and he has 70,000 miles on his front brakes with no noise. Honda changed something and won't own up to it. I won't be owning another Honda. I paid for a premium quality car and all I got was a premium piece of crap. Good riddance Honda. Your quality has gone down the tubes big time.
